Nike Book 1 “Forrest Gump” sneakers: Reported release date, first look, and everything we know so far

Nike is reportedly set to launch the highly buzzed Nike Book 1 “Forrest Gump” sneakers. The sneakers were initially teased as a Player Exclusive (PE) by NBA star Devin Booker. Now, speculation has it that these will be made available for the public on January 22, 2025, with a retail price of $140.

This release is believed to be a part of Nike’s marketing strategy to make Player Exclusive designs accessible to sneaker enthusiasts worldwide. This is expected to be the latest addition to the brand's basketball sneaker lineup.

Speculated Design of Nike Book 1 “Forrest Gump”

The “Forrest Gump” colorway is a nod to the beloved Nike Cortez. The silhouette rose to fame in the 1990s after its appearance in the film Forrest Gump. The latest Book 1 iteration has the appeal of the Cortez. Key design elements of the silhouette, like a white leather upper, red Nike Swoosh, and a blue-striped midsole, are featured on the sneakers.

The sneakers sport a white, varsity red, and varsity blue color scheme according to reports. A red Swoosh and subtle blue detailing on the midsole accent its white base. These visual elements are reminiscent of the original Cortez design.

The Nike-branded heel cup adds a vintage touch to the contemporary design of Book 1.

The sneakers' upper features a premium white leather base with added overlays. The rubber outsole is clad in white as well. The midsole has a blue stripe on it. Branding elements include Booker’s logo on the tongue and heel tab alongside traditional Nike branding.

The brand-new Nike Book 1 will reportedly feature responsive cushioning and a fit designed for basketball players.
