The Nike Air Jordan 14 "Black Toe" sneakers are one of the most drool-worthy pairs of the Air Jordan Silhouette. First launched in 1998, the sneakers enjoy an iconic status, being part of the lineup of shoes Michael Jordan wore during his last season with the Chicago Bulls. The fact that he sported a pair of the original version during the 'Last Shot' game, as part of the sixth NBA championship makes it even more special. The "Black Toe" version of the sneakers was inspired by the Ferrari sports car and was designed by Tinker Hatfield.

The sneaker's popularity and iconic significance have ensured its status as a cult classic. It has remained a favorite among sneakerheads since its very first launch in the market. It was re-launched in 2006 with a few modifications in design, with ribbed panels. It was relaunched again in 2014, and now, the Swoosh label's Air Jordan 14 "Black Toe" sneakers are all set to return after a 10 year gap.

The Nike Air Jordan 14 "Black Toe" sneakers were Michael Jordan's signature shoes on-court before his brief retirement from the NBA. The 2024 rendition stays true to its original design, including a majority of the details.

The sneakers are inspired by the sports car Ferrari's aerodynamic design and feature an eye-catching white/black-varsity red, metallic silver colorway. The "Black Toe" shoes feature a black suede toe cap, in sharp contrast with the rest of the sleek, smooth white leather upper finish.

The midsole features a metallic silver signature 'Jumpman logo' and '23' on the heels. The outsole mimics tyre treads of a sports car, emphasizing high performance, speed, and versatility. The Jumpman logo is flaunted on the insoles and on the sides, giving the shoes a sporty, aesthetic look. The shoes feature perforations on the upper portion and ribs along the side for breathability. The well-engineered ankle support and cushioning throughout the shoes, make it ideal for performance on the court. The Air Jordan collection has various other sneakers as well, flaunting, high-end designs, and comfort, which were released earlier this year.

The official Nike website describes the sneakers:

"The Air Jordan 14 features genuine and synthetic leather upper, showcasing its signature design. Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot deliver responsive cushioning and premium comfort. Faithfully designed down to the smallest details, the 14 was the first to feature metal lace tips. The main inspiration behind the 1998 design was Jordan’s sports car. The flowing design lines along the sides mimic those of the front seats."

The SNKRS website describes the shoes as:

True to the original, the AJ14 returns with premium materials in the iconic white, black and Varsity Red color execution known as the "Black Toe." MJ debuted the AJ14 while leading his team to its second championship three-peat. Tinker Hatfield gave MJ a prototype of the shoe, asking him to wait on wearing it. However, MJ liked the shoe so much that he wore it throughout his last championship run—including his immortal "Last Shot"—cementing the AJ14's status in basketball and sneaker history.

They further added:

The AJ14 features a low-to-the-ground design inspired by sports cars, as well as dual Air Zoom units for just the right amount of cushioning. And the sleek Jumpman emblem amplifies the AJ14's fusion of luxury and speed.

They also have a variant of the shoes with the exact design and color, for kids, which is priced at $160.

The Air Jordan 14 "Black Toe" sneakers are all set to get re-launched on the 2nd of November, 2024 at 7:30 pm on the SNKRS app, and select Nike stores and retailers. The shoes are priced at $210.
