Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette recently shocked fans when he mentioned his unusual dining choices for Thanksgiving 2024. On the St. Brown Podcast with Equanimeous and Amon-Ra, the Carolina Panthers wide receiver was asked about his "hottest food take," He said he ate raccoon, which many people found very bizarre.

"Like the raccoon you see in the trash can."

Sensing the confusion in the room, Legette even explained the whole process.

"I hunt it, I kill it, I skin it, cook ‘em, eat ‘em. All of that."

When asked when he last enjoyed a raccoon meal, Xavier Legette explained that it was not very long ago - in fact, he ate raccoon last at Thanksgiving 2024 with his family. He even went ahead and shared that his cousin was the one who got the raccoon.

"All my people do hunting and all that. My cousin is the one that killed it, and came and was like, ‘Come on, we got the raccoon.’ ”

While this left the Equanimeous and Amon-Ra baffled, they also enquired about the taste of raccoons. Legette explained that while everybody claimed it tasted like chicken, he believed that raccoon also has its own flavor profile.

Xavier Legette let slip that he has eaten much more than just raccoons

After Equanimeous and Amon-Ra got over the initial shock of Xavier Legette eating a raccoon, they were curious about what else he may have eaten. In response to this question, the Carolina Panthers star said that he had also eaten other animals like squirrels and rabbits, that were hunted by himself or his family.

While this sent a shockwave through the internet, several people from the South came to his defense. They stated that this was the food they had grown up eating and eating squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, and similar animals was a very common practice in the South.

Although the conversation started on a funny note because of how the St. Brown brothers reacted to Legette's eating habits, it ended on a warmer note when Xavier Legette invited them to his house to encourage them to try out the food he ate and then judge for themselves.

"Y’all gonna come to my city and try all this stuff. I’m telling y’all, you’re going to like it."

The podcast has amassed over 74K views since its release yesterday.
