“Need this in US”: Fans disappointed with KFC launching Squid Game meal exclusively in Spain

KFC Spain is currently offering a meal pack in collaboration with the Squid Game franchise. The new edition combines traditional Korean recipes with the restaurant chain’s signature chicken menu to allow fans of the movie franchise to celebrate the new season.

@Dexerto on X shared the news of the limited-edition menu exclusive to Spain, and a Netizen reacted by saying:

“Need this in the US.”

Similar reactions were recorded, as others called for KFC US to adopt the menu for the show's fans:

“Not gonna lie, this is creative. USA should do this,” an X user stated.
“Surprised they did it before the US,” another reacted.
“That's actually a very cool meal, I'd try it out if it came to the US," a fan expressed.

Others commented on the marketing tactics of the Squid Game franchise:

“The marketing for Squid Games is crazy, from in-game collaborations to restaurant collaborations. The marketing team is working overtime," one comment read.
“I’ve seen some insane marketing but wtf is this?” Another user asked.
“Didn’t see KFC or pink burgers on the show… they just make anything squid game for marketing,” another user observed.

Another section of the comments was not impressed by the pink coloring on the burgers and expressed such:

“Pink burger buns? Interesting,” one user expressed.
“I’m sure the food coloring in that bun is definitely not good for you,” another added.
“I don’t know if the burger being pink looks better or worse with color,” another comment read.

More details on the KFC x Squid Game meal

The limited-edition menu consists of a burger made using chicken fillets prepared with KFC’s signature recipe, Korean sauce, coleslaw, and pickle wrapped up in a bright pink bun.

The pink bun is reminiscent of the bright visual imagery of the dystopian survival thriller, the garb of the mysterious soldiers in the deadly game, and its infamous sugar cookies.

The burgers are offered alongside a bucket of 12 spicy wings or 10 crispy strips glazed with Korean sauce and sesame. Images of the show's characters are plastered over the menu’s packaging.

The KFC Spain chain has been teasing the collaborative menu since December 2024 and even planned a simulation of the gaming experience for December 19, 2024, accessible to a limited group of participants.

Squid Game 2 premiered on December 26, 2024, and saw player 456/ Seong Gi-hun return to the deadly game in a bid to unravel the powers behind it and put an end to the mayhem once and for all.


The series ended in a cliffhanger and fans are anxious for the release of the third season. In an interview with Variety, the creator of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, hinted that the launch date of the third season of the critically acclaimed series will be announced in the summer or fall of 2025.
