With a few days left until New Year, McDonald’s Japan has announced the launch of three burgers that will be available from January 6, 2025. On December 26, 2024, the fast food giant shared the news of the revelation of the Evangelion Burgers trio through a press release and on its X platform.
Interestingly, the three new Evangelion Burgers will be available as a part of McD Japan’s collaboration with the much-favorite anime franchise Neon Genesis Evangelion. The franchise will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in the upcoming year. The three Evangelion burgers have been named:
- Chunky fries and thick beef with rich garlic mayonnaise
- Mexican Cheese Chicken
- Double Cheese Teriyaki
Out of the three burgers, only the first two are new additions. The first burger combines a thick beef patty and a potato patty with a flavorful garlic mayo sauce. Meanwhile, the Mexican Cheese Chicken includes a chicken patty paired with taco meat filling for a tangy twist.
The Cheese Double Teriyaki, a return from last year, offers two pork patties in teriyaki sauce with cheese and lettuce. McDonald’s Japan also has plans to use original buns that are inspired by the series's AT Field. All three burgers will be served in the special "Evangelion Burger" buns. Not only that, but each burger will be presented in exclusive Evangelion-themed packaging.
It must be noted that these burgers will only be available for a limited time, tentatively lasting till early February 2025. The burger-themed advertisement trailer launched on X featured NERV confronting the yellow-and-red Evangelion Unit-M, as pointed out by Anitrendz.
What will the McDonald's Evangelion Burgers be priced at?
As per the press release, McDonald’s has two categories of prices: single item and value set. The Value Set includes a choice of side dishes like medium fries, a 5-piece Chicken McNuggets®, a side salad, or an edamame cone. These items can be paired with a medium drink option such as a small McShake®, small Minute Maid® Orange or Apple, or milk.
The Chunky Fries and Thick Beef with Rich and Delicious Garlic Mayo burger is priced at 540 yen for the single item and 840 yen for the value set. Similarly, the Mexican Cheese Chicken will be offered at 490 yen for a single item and 790 yen for a value set. The Double Cheese Teriyaki comes at 530 yen (single item) and 830 yen (value set).
It must be noted that these prices are given based on the translated version of the official press release. Customers are advised to read the official release carefully from mcdonalds.co.jp to double-check the prices.
McDonald’s Japan will sell the burgers from 10:30 a.m. until closing time. The items will be available across all McD outlets in Japan, except for some stores. Prices may also vary depending on the store and delivery options.
The restaurant chain will launch the first collaboration on January 20, 2025, which includes three limited-edition "McDonald's x Evangelion Value Set Figures," such as Big Mac Unit 01, Fries Unit 02, and McShake Unit 00.
