McDonald's, a behemoth that boasts several hundred outlets across the US, is bringing back a beloved menu item this holiday season: the Holiday Pie. The sweet treat has already made an appearance at select outlets across a few states, and fans online are elated.
The McDonald's Holiday Pie is a dessert that debuted in 1999. Since then, it comes back once a year, just in time for the holidays. Akin to the iconic apple pie, its flaky, buttery pie crust casing houses a thick vanilla custard filling. Topped with sugar glaze, it has a sprinkling of rainbow sprinkles for a little holiday cheer.

According to the official McDonald's website, the Holiday Pie packs 260 calories, slightly more than the Apple Pie, which features 230 calories. As for its official return date, the company has chosen to keep things mum in the meantime, so, a definite date is unclear.
Last year, the limited-time-only Holiday Pie hit the menus on November 15, but the year before that, it was spotted only towards the end of November. It is also unclear how much the treat, which the franchise has described as "the greatest gift to yourself," will sell for.
According to Instagram user @markie_devo, the Holiday Pie has already begun doing the rounds in states like Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Arkansas, and Pennsylvania. The website reveals that these will only be available at participating outlets.

Since the news broke out on X, fans have been more than happy. Some asserted that they are not such a big fan of the franchise, but the holiday treats have their heart.
"I don’t eat McDonald’s’s anymore but I want a holiday pie," one user shared.
"idgaf abt anything else where the holiday pies at from mcdonald’s at????" another questioned.
"i love the month november because that’s when the holiday pies come back to mcdonald’s," somebody else stated.
"Its barely November an im feining for the McDonald’s holiday pies," yet another chimed in.
The comments didn't stop there, as fans began beckoning for Christmas to somehow "hurry up."
"Christmas need to hurry up , I miss the McDonald’s Holiday pies," one user claimed.
"When it’s October but you really want a holiday pie from McDonald’s," someone else shared last month.
"I didn't get them during the holidays this year (should be gone soon) but @McDonald's 'Holiday Pie' came back for another year and still are some of the best things they've done in some times," another user stated earlier this year.
