Lays has officially reintroduced a “limited time flavor” to its range of delectable chips—Lay's Nashville Hot Chicken—on customer demand. The flavor was discontinued in 2020, likely because of the company’s policy of retiring the old stock and introducing a fresh stock with newly added flavors to engage customers.
The first announcement was made on social media a week ago. A handle by the name @markie_devo shared the news on his Instagram. In the post, he shared a photo consisting of all the chips that are returning to the market. He wrote in his post, “Ugly sweater Frito Lay cans for everyone this Christmas! Here are some goods from Frito Lay hitting stores now, all are returning except the Doritos Minis and the ugly sweater cans.
-Rold Gold Fudge Covered Tiny Twists(Found at Walmart)
-NEW Doritos Minis Sweet & Tangy BBQ(Found at Schnucks)
-Lay’s Nashville Hot Chicken(Found at Kroger)
-Ugly sweater Frito Lay cans(Found at Publix)
-Doritos Collisions Tangy Pickle and Cool Ranch(Found at Sam’s Club, it’s exclusive).”
While we were still processing the news, we came across chips on the PepsiCo website, Lay’s parent company. The product displayed an updated packaging was shown available in a 2.625-ounce bag and a 7.75-ounce bag.
Where can you buy it?
As of now, it is unclear which retail shops will be selling them, but Kroger and Publix are a few among them where the chips are available. If you are interested in stocking your favorite chips, then at Publix you can buy one for free on the Buy 1 Get 1 offer.
How did customers react to its relaunch?
The spicy and savory Southern flavor of Lay’s Nashville Hot Chicken has brought a wave of excitement among the fans. The chips, which are based on the classic Southern dish called Nashville-Style Hot Chicken, explode with flavors once you grab a bite.
The return of this flavor rekindled many fond memories among people. One reviewer on Walmart wrote, “This chip has a fantastic spice to it that will hit you more than you expect.”
Another person wrote, “Best chip yet!!! I have bought out local Walmart. Please keep making this chip!!”
Instagrammer @snackolater also introduced the chips in a post. A user commented on his post, "The Nashville, hot chicken are amazing." Another wrote, "The Lay's Nashville Hot is my favorite of all time."
Well, seeing the popularity of chips among its fans, we are sure that it will be a hit this time again.
What other chips have made it to the market?
Apart from Lay’s Nashville Hot Chicken, it has relaunched two other flavors in the market: Crispy Taco chips and Cajun Spice kettle chips. It also reintroduced kids' favorite Crunch Tators that will definitely make you nostalgic. Three flavors are introduced under this category, including Original, BBQ Mighty Mesquite, and Hoppin’ Jalapeno, but for a limited time period.
In August, Lay’s launched three bold flavors—Lay's Wavy Tzatziki, Lay’s Masala, and Lay’s Honey Butter—as a part of its globally inspired flavors.
