KFC introduces original recipe tenders while declaring war on other outlets in new ad campaign

Kentucky Fried Chicken, also known as KFC, is one of the leading and globally recognized fast-food chains worldwide, specializing in serving delicious fried chicken recipes.

Long before being established as a company in 1952, it was started by Colonel Harland Sanders as a personal recipe, at his roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky during the Great Depression.

Over decades, KFC has established itself as a large-scale global franchise, currently operating in over 150 countries and over 30,000 restaurants worldwide.

The KFC menu has evolved over all these years of experimentation with various dishes. The specialties include the KFC grilled chicken, popcorn chicken, chicken sandwich, extra crispy chicken, and KFC famous bowls.

This time, they are introducing the new original tenders recipe, with a satirical and aggressive market strategy that 'declares war' on other outlets in the fast-food industry.


KFC has introduced a new original tenders recipe and is now ready to jump into 'battle' with its counterparts

KFC has launched a 60-second ad campaign introducing the original tenders recipe that announces a battle cry against its fast-food counterparts, in a satirical take.

The marketing campaign is backed by KFC strategically giving away consumers free Original Recipe Tenders on October 17, 2024, in selected cities, the founding locations for Raising Cane's, Popeyes, and Chick-fil-A.

The cities include Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Louisiana, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Georgia. This innovative marketing strategy has been introduced under KFC's newly appointed CMO- Catherine Tan-Gillespie to assert its dominance over the chicken tenders game in the food industry.

The original chicken tenders recipe has taken up a different breading process than the previous recipe. The new tenders are not just double-hand breaded, but are put through the company's signature Original Recipe System, which previously only the company's chicken on-the-bone items were breaded through.

Catherine Tan-Gillespie highlighted in a statement,

"We know consumers crave bold flavor and chicken tenders are a familiar favorite – that's why we're proudly proclaiming the deliciousness of our new tenders seasoned with our secret recipe of 11 herbs & spices. Nothing hits like the unmatched flavor of KFC's Original Recipe."

To celebrate the launch, the new tender secret recipe is available in a $5 Original Recipe Tenders box. This offer features three new tenders, a serving of secret recipe fries, and two of KFC’s signature sauces.

Customers can choose from three sauces: a brand-new zesty comeback sauce, a sticky chicky sauce, and the classic KFC sauce, which offers sweet and tangy flavors.

The brand's new launch is backed by Tan-Gillespie's statement:

“And with an unbeatable $5 deal, we think you'll agree our new tenders are poised to win the chicken tender battle."

KFC has also launched a selection of desserts, including Cherry Pie Poppers, which feature warm cherry pie filling encased in a buttery, flaky crust, and Cranberry Lemonade.


KFC is set to introduce exciting offers, featuring a Tenders + Nuggets Family Meal deal that can be accessed online and through its app. Additionally, they will launch a 13 Days of Daily Deals promotion, which will take place from October 19 to October 31, 2024.
