Miley Cyrus is working on an album for 2025
Cyrus’ New Year post came after a heartfelt end-of-the-year post on December 23, 2024, where she reminisced on her experiences in 2024 and appreciated those who had made it special for her:
“It’s bittersweet saying goodbye to a year that has been so good to me, but I am looking forward to starting over again. This is one of my favorite parts of not just the creative process but the way life has chosen to teach me,”
The former coach of The Voice added:
"In everything I do, I like to go ALL the way. Give it ALL I’ve got. ALL for it to come to an end, move on, and start anew. At times it can be a heartbreaking process but I’ve always known the pieces to come back together and create something beautiful. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of making this year so special,”
In a November 2024 profile for Harper’s Bazaar, the Wrecking Ball hitmaker revealed plans to release a psychedelic album in 2025. She described the album as “hypnotizing and glamorous,” and added that:
"It’s a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.”
The 32-year-old also expressed her desire to be a “human psychedelic” through the new album, as she wanted to impact frequencies in listeners to make them vibrate at a different level.
Cyrus stated in the interview with Harper’s Bazaar that the visuals of her upcoming project were inspired by the 2018 horror movie Mandy, which starred Nicolas Cage.
She is working on the album's visuals with the film’s director, Panos Cosmatos. Pink Floyd’s The Wall is another strong influence on the body of work.
Cyrus emphasized that the visual aspect of her upcoming album would drive the sound as the tracks—whether about sad themes, would be presented in a “beautiful way” as, according to her, “nastiest times of our lives do have a point of beauty.”
