Keeping up with a tradition that was started over 25 years ago, Pantone has just announced its Color of the Year for 2025 - 'Mocha Mousse' and popular makeup brand IPSY was quick to announce a collaboration. A warm, rich brown color, Mocha Mousse is a color that exudes warmth yet has a rich, luxurious feel to it.
Every year, as soon as Pantone drops the Color of the Year in December, many brands become high on alert to come up with products in their own categories that are in keeping with this theme.
This year, popular makeup brand IPSY announced a collaboration with Pantone within a day of the announcement of the Color of the Year, stating that it will be coming up with a whole range of makeup products based on the color 'Mocha Mousse' in April 2025.
The official Instagram announcement reads,
"Meet Pantone's Pantone Color of the Year 2025—a warm, soft brown that's equal parts cozy and luxe. We teamed up with @pantone to bring you a Mocha Mousse collab so exclusive, you'll want to mark your calendars for April 2025!"
The brand has already announced some of the products that makeup enthusiasts can look forward to in Mocha Mousse - including "a makeup bag crafted from soft, vegan Mocha Mousse leather, a 5-piece makeup brush collection, and a 3-piece makeup sponge set."
These products will be available for purchase on IPSY's official website come April 2025.

Shortly after Pantone made the announcement for its pick for Color of the Year 2025 - Mocha Mousse - IPSY announced its collaboration with the color giant, stating that fans could expect to see a huge lineup of makeup products coming up in the winning shade. Officially identified as PANTONE 17-1230, the color is a warm, rich brown that exudes comfort and luxury.
Speaking of the decision, Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute remarked,
"For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others."
Adding to this statement, she said,
"Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace the aspirational and luxe."

The color Mocha Mousse evokes "thoughtful indulgence," according to Eiseman, which made it the obvious pick for the Color of the Year 2025.
