“It’s such an angsty, sarcastic song”: Gracie Abrams on her hit song That’s So True and its meaning
The 25-year-old sat down for an interview with Nylon magazine, where she talked about her music, touring with Taylor Swift, and moving to New York, amongst other things.
That’s So True was released on October 18, 2024, from her album, The Secret of Us. The folky heartbreak song debuted at number 44 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 6 on the chart, becoming her highest-peaking song to date and her first top ten single. That’s So True also marked her sixth appearance on the chart.
Gracie Abrams revealed that she started writing the hit song last year, but contemplated not including the track in the album. She described the song as angsty and sarcastic:
“It’s such an angsty, sarcastic song. Audrey and I were drunk on the roof, writing it in tears, laughing. The initial lyrics were way gnarlier.”
Gracie Abrams made her Saturday Night Live debut on the December 14, 2024, episode hosted by Chris Rock, where she performed some of her hit tracks.
As for new music, Abrams revealed to Nylon Magazine that she might release a new record by the end of 2025.
