Selena Gomez has been revealed as one of the stars of W Magazine’s Best Performances Issue 2025. The magazine shared laidback photos of the Emilia Perez star dressed in a Prada coat and leggings with a matching Araks bralette, a leather belt, also from Prada, and a Boucheron necklace.

The post was captioned:

“Presenting the first cover star of our Best Performances issue: @selenagomez. With her Golden Globe-nominated turn in @emiliaperezfilm (plus another nod for @onlymurdershulu), Gomez has cemented her status as not just a chart-topping pop star but also a Hollywood powerhouse. Still, she was nervous about how the Spanish-language musical would be received. “The first time I saw the film was in Cannes. We were all kind of sinking into our seats, not really sure what was going to happen.”

Selena Gomez on her acting in Emilia Perez and her first Spanish-speaking movie role

The multi-hyphenate entertainer revealed in an interview with Lynn Hirschberg of W Magazine that she was drawn to the Emilia Perez movie script because she found it “thought-provoking” and “groundbreaking.”

On speaking Spanish for the movie, Selena Gomez, who released an all-Spanish album titled Revelación on March 12, 2021, said that she was “extremely proud” to have done the whole film in Spanish, even though she found it intimidating.

Emilia Perez first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2024, and Gomez spoke about the positive reception the film received there:

"The standing ovation was really sweet. None of us had actually seen the movie until Cannes. We were all kind of sinking into our seats, not really sure what was going to happen. The reception after was really beautiful. I was so happy for Karla and for Jacques. It felt like we were seen and deeply appreciated."

Additionally, Gomez spoke about a reboot of the hit Disney series, Wizards of the Waverly Place. Gomez is producing the series and will also be making an appearance in it.
