The prime suspect of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s murder, Luigi Mangione, has been taken to custody following a tip from a McDonald’s employee. However, his arrest has divided the internet over multiple aspects of the incident.

Prominent among the internet users' reactions are the poor reviews that the restaurant has been getting since his arrest. Although Google has reportedly removed those reviews since they were not based on real experience, the ones on Yelp are likely to be available.

It is noteworthy that the reviews were not targeted to a particular McDonald’s restaurant but almost all in Altoona, Pennsylvania, from where Luigi Mangione was arrested. Internet users backlashed the food joint using harsh words. One user, who rated the restaurant one star on Google wrote,

"More like Narc-donalds…. I hope obesity and heart disease are in-network in PA. Deny, defend, depose, diarrhea @ McDonald’s."

Meanwhile, a section of X users shared similar sentiments. Many even accused the employee of being a traitor while others pointed out that it was a problem of class consciousness.

"The McDonald’s worker who snitched on the United healthcare CEO shooter will go down as the biggest class traitor in history," a person wrote.

The reviews appeared to signify betrayal, thereby criticizing the McDonald’s employee for telling on Luigi Mangione. It is speculated that the reviews have been mostly posted by individuals who, like Luigi Mangione, are dissatisfied with the country's healthcare system.

The recently posted reviews can be seen as a mark of criticism towards the food chain for the employee's doings. So, even though netizens are not directly voicing out their dissatisfaction over his arrest, they are posting reviews to tentatively sabotage the reputation of food outlets as a form of revenge.

Besides posting negative reviews about McDonald’s, netizens want Luigi Mangione to be set free

The social media movement took a new turn after a new hashtag #FreeLuigi gained momentum on X. Netizens called him a ‘Freedom Fighter’ justifying violence as a means to start and end revolutions.

Meanwhile, others found Luigi Mangione’s old social media posts interesting. They even called him intelligent but doubted why he would throw away his talent and intelligence. Others alleged that the McDonald’s employee did not possibly have good health insurance. A person posted on X saying,

“The saddest thing is that the McD’s worker who snitched has either no health insurance or the shittiest one that clown provides its grossly underpaid and overworked employees. #FreeLuigi.”

When the New York Police Department and the FBI initiated the search hunt for the possible suspect in Brian Thompson’s murder, they announced a monetary reward of up to $60,000 for anyone who could provide information about the alleged killer.

Many might think that the McDonald’s employee is now entitled to receive the same but it’s not as simple as it sounds. The chances of that person receiving the amount are low as he called 911 and not the TIP number that he was supposed to.

Given other logistical formalities for the award, it now seems that the employee would have to jump through a lot of hoops, as expressed by FOX40.
