Canadian rapper Drake announced free chicken for all on his birthday, October 24. Everyone can buy Dave’s Hot Chicken slider simply by downloading the app. According to a company press release from July 2024, the rapper invested in the chain back in 2021, allowing the California-based to go international.

In reflecting on his decision to invest in the brand, the God's Plan rapper said in a statement, Bloomberg reported,

"I tried the food and it was amazing. After meeting the founders and hearing their story, I jumped at the opportunity to invest."

The One Dance rapper is one of other celebrity backers like Samuel L. Jackson and Usher. According to BS Strategy Hub, Drake owns less than a 50% share of the company. However, it remains one of the brand's leading investors.

All you need to know about Drake's free chicken sliders

As for the free chicken slider announcement, all one needs to do is head on down to a local Dave's, scan the reward in the official app, and wait for their freebie. The celebration turns live on October 24, from 11 am-9 pm local time.

Notably, this offer is only valid in-person, only in the US, and not online or through a third-party delivery service. Outlets include Dearborn, Troy, Warren, Southfield, Shelby Township, East Lansing, and Howell.

Dave's Hot Chicken was born in an East Hollywood parking lot about seven years ago, as three childhood friends, Chef Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy Rubenyan, banded together to launch it.

The chain has since seen soaring success, having set up shop in over 1,000 locations, including the U.S., the Middle East, and Canada.

Notably, this is the Passionfruit rapper's third year giving away free food on his birthday. In speaking about Drake, Bill Phelps, Dave’s Hot Chicken’s CEO, said in a press release,

“We love that Drake is choosing to celebrate his birthday with Dave’s guests. As this brand expands from coast to coast and abroad, it’s the authenticity of the food, founders, team members, and investors, like Drake, which ensure we’ll continue to blow peoples’ minds.”

The company is renowned for its Hot Chicken Sliders, Tenders, and Bites, which pair well with sides of its in-house Kale Slaw, seasoned fries, and creamy Mac & Cheese.

Furthermore, their chicken also comes in spice levels on a scale from one to seven, with one being No Spice and seven being even-hotter Reaper™. The latter mandates a signed waiver.

According to Afrotech, Dave's Hot Chicken is not the rapper's first foray into the food industry, given that he is also an investor in the plant-based chicken company, Daring Foods Inc.
