Burger King has good news for all football lovers. The restaurant chain has launched two new football-inspired items, the Game Day Pretzel Whopper and Nacho Chicken Fries. However, this release is only exclusive to the restaurants in Columbus, Ohio.

The Game Day Pretzel Whopper comes in a pretzel bun with bacon, pickles, and crunchy onions. Two types of cheese go into the burger: American and nacho cheese. It is reportedly priced below $8.

This was the second time that a new item was launched in Columbus. In 2024, a Frozen Cherry Float inspired by the Ohio State Buckeyes was introduced. Interestingly, it came with a scarlet and gray OSU-themed crown. According to Allrecipes, this marks the first time Columbus has a game-day product.

It must be noted that Burger King launched the Game Day Pretzel Whopper and Nacho Chicken Fries on January 9, 2025, on a trial basis and for testing only. Depending on how well the customers accept them, the items might be incorporated into the menu permanently.

These items can be ordered only at the selected outlets and for a limited period. The best way to know whether the nearest restaurant is selling these items is to check the official app or contact the outlet directly. However, reports suggest that as many as 52 Burger King restaurants in Columbus are serving the two items.

The Nacho Chicken Fries are made from white meat chicken coated in a crispy tortilla-chip breading. They come with nacho cheese sauce for dipping. The fries are available in four, eight, or twelve packs, with prices starting at $2.49, though they may vary by location.

Here is what a reviewer said about Burger King’s Game Day Pretzel Whopper

YouTube channel Penny’s Two Cents shared a review of Burger King’s Game Day Pretzel Whopper on January 11, 2025. On the first bite, she found something salty on the burger, which she later discovered was the nacho cheese sauce. The sauce, with the bacon on it, gives the additional salty flavor. Penny found the saltiness to be not too enjoyable. She added:

“If you are very salt conscious, sodium. You know, you are watching your sodium, or if you are sensitive to like really salty things, this is pretty salty.”

Initially, she thought the pretzel bun would be a bit hard, but after a second bite, she said it was not too tough. She liked the texture of the pretzel bun. Nonetheless, she preferred a regular Whopper. Penny added:

“Now, Burger King stuck with that pretzel bun option, you know, to put on your burgers or whatever, I think this is a fairly decent pretzel bun.”

Reiterating the salt level in the Whopper, she said the pickles were salty, too, but despite that, she liked the crispy onions. However, she felt it would have been better without the nacho cheese and mayo could have been added instead. After trying the Nacho Chicken Fries, she said she liked them more than the regular chicken fries because of their crispiness.
