Animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society has a unique Valentine’s Day offer for pet lovers. Those with no one to spend the love day with can get a pet and have some playful and heartwarming moments. On February 14, 2025, the organization will give a chance for people to adopt a pet and have a day full of cuddles and kisses.

Sharing the news in an Instagram post, the Best Friends Animal Society wrote:

“This Valentine’s Day dogs and cats from our Best Friends Lifesaving Centers are ready to spend the night…in YOUR home! Instead of going out this February 14, why not make a dog or cat looking for a loving home your Valentine?”

The Instagram post invited residents from cities like Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Northwest Arkansas, Salt Lake City, and Kanab to visit and meet adoptable pets. It highlighted the importance of fostering in giving animals a chance to experience kindness and consistent meals.

Best Friends Animal Society thanked Blue Buffalo, the official pet food and treats partner, which will provide every foster and adopter with pet food and treats. The post encouraged people to make this Valentine’s Day special by going on a unique blind date with a furry companion. In a press release, the organization wrote:

“Fostering is an essential part of the lifesaving process. This important step also provides crucial personality information on a pet to the animal shelter or rescue group, which can help make better adoption matches for the adoptable dogs and cats.”

How to get a companion from Best Friends Animal Society on Valentine’s Day?

As per the media outlet, Best Friends Animal Society is hosting Valentine’s Day sleepovers starting February 14, 2025, allowing people to visit a shelter anytime between February 14 and 17, 2025, to choose a pet for a temporary stay.

Those interested can also browse the organization's website to explore potential long-term matches. If a strong bond forms, fosters can continue caring for the pet or officially adopt it. To encourage adoptions, the organization waived fees over Valentine’s Day weekend, emphasizing that pet companionship is invaluable.

Moreover, adoption events will also take place on February 15, 2025, at all Best Friends locations. Speaking to NBC Los Angeles, the organization’s PR specialist, Erinn O’Connor, said:

“The Friday event is a great way to get introduced to fostering. Sleepovers get pets out of the shelter environment for the night and into a home where they can relax and decompress.”

She continued:

“Interested individuals can pick up a pet for their sleepover at a time that works best for them.”

Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles provides shelter for animals in need, including those affected by California wildfires. With a nationwide mission to make all U.S. shelters no-kill, the organization has significantly reduced annual euthanasia rates from 17 million in 1984 to 415,000 today.

Additionally, Chewy is teaming up with shelters nationwide for "Dogs’ Date Out," giving singles, couples, and dog lovers the chance to spend time with shelter dogs on a special date.
