The 28-year-old multi-hyphenate entertainer sat down with Lyndsey Havens of Billboard Magazine and spoke about her solo music project and her Odd Atelier label, amongst other things. Since the wrap of BLACKPINK's 2023 tour, she has been nose-deep in her solo projects.

In December 2023, she founded Odd Atelier, an independent label, and began working on her upcoming album in January 2024. In September of the same year, she announced a partnership with Columbia Records.

Her hit single, Mantra, was released in October 2024. The Korean singer also revealed that most of her album’s production was done in Los Angeles because she wanted to challenge herself in a new environment:

"I just really wanted to throw myself out there to experience it. [In Seoul], I was so comforted in an easy environment that I created a long time ago, and I didn’t enjoy it. I was like, ‘No, if this is your career and if this is your life, explore and learn.’ I kept telling myself that.”

Details of her upcoming album have been kept under wraps, but the superstar managed to reveal that it experiments with different genres and elements, and she ensured that every song included in it was one she liked.

On Odd Atelier, the BLACKPINK member stated that she chose the name for her label to reflect that the company was open to creating art in all forms, and she wasn’t open to signing new artists just yet.

BLACKPINK is set to make a comeback in 2025 with new music and a tour.
