The New Balance 1906W “Ice Wine” sneaker is reportedly the latest iteration of the 1906R series. It will likely feature Stability panels, a knitted upper, and a double cushioning system. The Ice Wine colorway has been featured in other NB models, including the classics 530 and 860v.
This potential iteration is expected to launch in the Spring of 2025. However, New Balance has yet to make official announcements about the design and release. Like other sneakers, the New Balance 1906W “Ice Wine” sneakers will be available on NewBalance.com and official retailers. The dual-tone sneaker is expected to be sold for $150.
Features of the New Balance 1906W “Ice Wine” sneakers
The New Balance 1906W “Ice Wine” colorway opts for Stability Web technology in the upper and replaces the leather overlays typically seen in the 1906 sneakers.
Mesh material is featured in diamond-shaped structures on the side and covers the vamp. The sneaker is covered in hues of pink and grey, with the brand's initials adding a pop of contrast on the toe cap and tongue.
The overlay has a web pattern that enhances the breathability and comfort of the sneaker. Other notable features of the sneakers include:
- ACTEVA Light cushioning: The cushioning system patented by NB adds lightweight cushioning to the midsole. According to the brand, it is 24% lighter than New Balance's standard foam.
- ABZORB SBS cushioning: To double the comfort, the heel and forefoot also feature the ABZORB cushioning.
While some users have noted that the 1906 can be heavier on the foot, the ACTEVA technology in 1906W "Ice Wine" may cross this barrier. Many customers have critiqued the 1906 for its unstructured insole.
New Balance has been synonymous with 'dad' shoes. Over the years, the sneaker has introduced new cushioning technologies, including the ACTEVA and ABZORB SBS.
New Balance is potentially giving the 1906R series a facelift. The New Balance 1906W “Ice Wine” sneakers feature a dual cushioning system and a subtle colorway. While the official release of the “Ice Wine” sneakers is unclear, they may join the sneaker lineups scheduled for Spring 2025.
