Since its launch in 1996, Pokemon TCG has been loved by fans of all ages. Over 100 sets of the game have been released globally to date.

Pokemon TCG Pocket was released on October 30, 2024. The mobile application has already crossed 60 million downloads. Previously, it has seen expansions like Genetic Apex. Now, the global gaming community is abuzz with the latest Mythical Island update. It comes with a mix of common cards and rare God Packs.

What’s New in Mythical Island expansion of Pokemon TCG?

This latest update focuses on Mythical Pokemon like Celebi, Mew, Marshadow, and more. Below are some of the best cards that have been added, and upgraded in the brand new expansion.

Serperior

Grass-type decks get a notable boost with Serperior. Its Jungle Totem Ability doubles the effectiveness of Grass Energy.

Below is what the gaming studio had to mention about the upgrade:

"The Regal Pokémon’s Jungle Totem Ability makes each Grass Energy twice as effective for Grass-type Pokémon, paring down the hefty attack costs of Pokémon like the Stage 2 Venusaur ex."

It adds,

"Serperior is also a Stage 2 Pokémon, though, so it’s likely to be more consistent when paired with Basic Pokémon like the new Celebi ex or Dhelmise."

The new Celebi ex comes with the Powerful Bloom attack, which makes damage with attached Grass Energy. Below is how the official website of the game is describing it:

"The physical Pokémon TCG has featured numerous attacks with an infinite damage ceiling, but Celebi ex’s Powerful Bloom is the first of them to debut in Pokémon TCG Pocket."

Vaporeon

Players have often reported that the water decks face problems with energy consistency. Vaporeon addresses this with its Wash Out Ability. It will now allow gamers to transfer Water Energy between Active, and Benched Pokémon.

Here is what the official website had to state about this:

"Misty has been a powerful—and not so powerful—form of Energy acceleration for Water-type decks, but apart from relying on coin flips, it has the drawback that you must choose a single Pokémon to give all of the Energy to. That’s not necessarily bad, but flexibility can make or break wins and losses."

Mew ex

This one continues to be a wildcard. Its Genome Hacking ability copies powerful attacks for three Colorless Energy. It is generally considered as a tech option in multiple decks.

The official description is as follows:

"Mew ex’s Genome Hacking attack has seen some success in the Pokémon TCG’s standard format, but this Mew ex is a bit different."

It continues:

"Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Mew ex doesn’t have an Ability that draws cards, so it’s likely to be more niche, but being able to copy a powerful attack for three Colorless Energy can still prove useful."

There are numerous other cards included in the Mythical Island for you to explore. Head to Pokemon TCG Pocket to experience the latest expansion.
