The 2025 Met Gala theme explored

This year’s exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity (2009).

The exhibit will showcase garments, paintings, and photographs that trace the evolution of Black menswear from the 18th century to the present.

The concept of dandyism, which is often associated with sophistication, has historically been a tool for Black individuals.
