American artist and designer, Brian Donnelly a.k.a. KAWS came on Instagram to announce the launch of a new figurine inspired by Netflix's Squid Game season 2. KAWS captioned the post as "YOUNG-HEE returns," where he also mentions partnering with Netflix, AllRightsReserved, and the DDT store.

The new figure is a reinterpretation of the character of Young-Hee from the Netflix series Squid Game combined with KAWS' famous 'Companion' elements.

To add this figurine to your collection, a limited pop-up store will open in Shinsegae Gangnam, Seoul, from 20 December 2024 to 5 January 2025. It will also be available internationally through the DDT store starting on 19 December at 9:30 p.m. ET and also on 20 December at 10:30 a.m. Hong Kong time.

KAWS new Squid Games-inspired figurine: Design and details

The figurine is designed as a standing model with movable arms. The Young-Hee figurine features a mix of the original Squid Games character along with KAWS signature figurine designs.

The figurine replicates the character of Young-Hee in the series to a certain extent. The figurine dons an orange dress over a yellow short-sleeved shirt, with white knee-high socks and black patent leather shoes.

KAWS' signature designs can be seen on the X-crossed eyes of the figurine and the grey cloud ears. The white gloves with 'X' marks on them are another signature look.

Since the arms of the figurine are movable, they move to cover the doll's eyes. This action is a reinterpretation of the 'Red Light, Green Light' game.

Squid Games season 2 will be released on 26 December 2024 and different brands have been releasing Squid Games-inspired merch. Some of these brands include Puma and Crocs who will be releasing Squid Games-themed apparel.
