Pokémon Go has collaborated with McDonald’s in the U.S. for a new gaming experience. As part of the tie-up that was revealed on December 12, trainers “will be able to visit Sponsored PokéStops or Gyms when visiting McDonald’s restaurants in the US,” according to a blog post on Pokémon Go’s website.
McDonald’s Marketing Director Guillaume Huin shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). “McDonald’s x Pokémon GO is now live, turning every single restaurant in the US into Pokéstops or Gyms.” He wrote while sharing that every McDonald’s in the US will offer raid or lure events, starting December 2024 till March 2025 from 6 pm to 7 pm.
He added that you can get cute images of Pikachu by texting the person who runs a McDonald’s account. In his third tweet, Huin stated that Pokémon and McDonald’s share a long history of partnerships through Happy Meal. And that they are excited to “explore a new dimension” with Pokémon Go.

Fans gave mixed reactions to the collaboration between Pokémon Go and McDonald’s. A few users appreciated the move as now they would be able to enjoy their favorite meal at McDonald’s while playing Pokémon Go.
