Fortnite confirms Godzilla x Kong event: Release date, gameplay, and more explored

Epic Games has confirmed Godzilla x Kong for Fortnite's in-game event. Starting January 17, 2025, Fortnite players can enjoy the clash of the MonsterVerse as Godzilla, King Kong, and Mechagodzilla descend upon the virtual island.

This event is expected to be a significant gameplay experience that has the potential to mark Fortnite's Chapter 6, Season 1, in the best possible way. With Godzilla, Kong, and Mechagodzilla entering the fray, the game pays tribute to the 2024 film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a much-acclaimed one from the MonsterVerse.

How do you unlock the skin in the Godzilla x Kong event?

One of the event's highlights is the Godzilla Evolved Outfit. It is available through the Battle Pass. Players need to complete quests to unlock this glowing skin, which gets brighter with each elimination.

Accessories like the Godzilla Exo-Spine Back Bling, Crystal Fang Pickaxe, Mothra Glider, and Lil’ Godzilla Attack Emote can also be unlocked by completing quests.

"Rise together with Godzilla… or fall alone. Starting January 17, owners of the HUNTERS Battle Pass will be able to unlock the Godzilla Evolved Outfit by completing Battle Pass Quests in any experience! This Outfit will start glowing after your first elim in a match and will glow even brighter with each one."

It also adds,

"Complete all the Quests and you’ll unlock Godzilla Evolved’s Energized Godzilla Style! These Battle Pass Quests will be completable until Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 6 Season 1: 鬼 HUNTERS ends February 21, 2025, at 2 AM ET!"

The Mechagodzilla & Kong Bundle features reactive skins, matching pickaxes, back bling, and emotes. Whether you're team Godzilla or team Kong, these bundles will let you bring your favorite titan to Fortnite life.

Becoming the Monster

The Godzilla x Kong event introduces an interesting gameplay mechanic. During matches, portals will randomly appear on the map. The first player to jump through becomes Godzilla, and gets access to these powers:

• Roar: Reveal the location of nearby players.
• Mighty Stomp Attack: Send enemies flying.
• Heat Ray: Blazing players and buildings.

Other players can target Godzilla’s weak spots to deal extra damage. Knocking off Godzilla Fragments will grant the player's health and dash charges. The player who delivers the final blow earns the Godzilla Medallion and the Burst Quad Launcher.

Additionally, Fortnite's Godzilla x Kong includes a boss battle with Godzilla. In this mode, players must strategize to take down the titan with unvaulted weapons like the Rail Gun and Shield Bubble.
