Cncpts x New Balance 740 "Brut" sneakers: Where to get, price, release date, and more explored

The Cncpts x New Balance 740 "Brut" sneakers is the latest collaboration between the heritage retail brand, Cncpts, and the sports footwear and apparel manufacturer, New Balance. The "Brut" sneakers are a follow-up to the earlier "Saignée" colorway.

According to Cncpts, the Cncpts x New Balance 740 "Brut" sneakers will exclusively be available only at Cncpts flagship stores in Boston, Miami, and New York. The drop for the shoes will happen on 10 January 2025. The shoes will retail for $120.

The sizing of the shoes will be made available for both men and women. The exact time for the drop is yet to be revealed.

Cncpts x New Balance 740 "Brut" sneakers: The sequel to the Saignée

After the release of the Saignée colorway in December 2024, Cncpts and New Balance have teamed up again to release a sequel colorway that is the Cncpts x New Balance 740 "Brut" sneakers.

The whole design of the Cncpts x New Balance 740 "Brut" sneakers is borrowed from the familiar elements of 2000s running shoes but with a new elegant and luxurious twist.

The sneakers have a two-toned mesh upper with a segmented midsole. For intricate details, the upper part of the shoe also has matching color leather overlays and a bright yellow mesh tongue.

The soles of the sneakers are made from a deeper green compared to the upper mesh part of the shoes.

The color and name of the sneakers are inspired by the meticulous process of making a dry type of champagne known as "Brut". In French, the word "Brut" translates to "dry", "raw", or "unfiltered." The grapes for the Brut champagne is grown in northeastern France or popularly known as the Champagne province.

The inspiration for the name "Brut"

"Brut" is a type of wine that is made after a long process of making dry champagne. The origin of the name goes back to 1858 France. The Brut champagne was first created by Madam Pommery, a widow who was left to care and tend her husband's vineyard.

According to the Creative Director for Cncpts, Deon Point, he says,

"Continuing the storyline from our ‘Saignee’ 740, we chose to look into another champagne making process that’s more familiar to the average wine drinker but just as complex...We were also inspired by the story of Madame Pommery, another female winemaker that set her own path in a male-dominated industry."

Like any great pair of shoes, the Cncpts x New Balance 740 "Brut" sneakers also have an interesting story behind them.
