Carbone Fine Food is making another move in the jarred pasta sauce market. The brand is adding five new flavors to its lineup in 2025. The latest additions, Sweet Pepper & Onion, Mediterranean Marinara, Black Truffle Alfredo, Mac & Cheese Alfredo, and Lemon Pepper Alfredo, bring the total number of Carbone sauce varieties to 17.
These new releases add to the brand’s ongoing efforts to reinterpret Italian-American cuisine through a modern lens. Founded by chefs Mario Carbone and Rich Torrisi in 2013, the original Carbone restaurant became known for its new take on red-sauce classics. Carbone Fine Food was launched launch in 2021.
Here is what Carbone's CEO Eric Skae had to mention regarding the new flavors,
"Carbone is young, modern-chef driven, and in the zeitgeist. Our new flavor creations are bold, authentic and uniquely delicious. They reinforce our position as a category innovation driver and the fastest-growing sauce in the nation."
He also added,
"As always, we're focused on making it easy for people to enjoy incredible meals at home," said chef Mario Carbone. "These five new sauces make good on our promise to bring bold, exciting flavors to the table with the same quality and care that's at the heart of everything we do."
Carbone’s 5 new pasta sauces explored
Sweet Pepper and Onion
This sauce brings roasted peppers and sauteed onions together with Italian tomatoes and a touch of rosemary. It features a balance of savory and sweet flavors, the brand claims. The addition of rosemary adds a slightly herbal note. This is where the new flavor is expected to be different from standard tomato sauces.
Mediterranean Marinara
Inspired by the flavors of Southern Italy, this sauce combines Italian tomatoes with black olives, capers, garlic, and fresh herbs. The inclusion of olives and capers gives it a slightly tangy taste. This could make it a good choice for seafood pasta dishes.
Black Truffle Alfredo
Carbone’s latest Alfredo variant features a blend of Parmesan and Romano cheeses, along with black truffle. While truffle can be a divisive ingredient due to its strong aroma, this sauce is made to come with a balanced truffle flavor.
Mac & Cheese Alfredo
In an unconventional move, Carbone introduces a Mac & Cheese-inspired Alfredo sauce. This version swaps out traditional Parmesan for white cheddar and blends it with cream, butter, and spices.
Lemon Pepper Alfredo
This Alfredo variation takes a relatively lighter approach as it is featured with Parmesan and Romano cheeses with black pepper and lemon. The citrus adds a tangy contrast to the creamy base. This could work well with seafood dishes.
Availability
Carbone’s five new sauces are now available across the nation at Whole Foods Market. Enthusiasts can expect the inclusion of additional retailers in the coming months. For those looking to order online, the sauces can also be purchased on Amazon and the official Carbone website.
Potential drawbacks of the new sauces one needs to consider
The Black Truffle Alfredo might not appeal to everyone due to the strong taste of truffle, which can be overpowering if not balanced correctly. Similarly, the Mac & Cheese Alfredo could be seen as a niche product that doesn’t fit neatly into traditional pasta dishes.
Additionally, Carbone sauces are priced at a higher point compared to other mainstream brands, which may make the new pasta sauces less accessible to budget-conscious consumers.
