With this reported release, the Jordan Brand is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan line. This all-black sneaker has become one of the most sought-after colorways in the Air Jordan 4 catalog. Originally released in 2006 and retroed in 2020, the “Black Cat” has commanded resale prices as high as $1,000.
The upcoming 2025 edition is allegedly expected to retain the features of the original silhouette. However, it is allegedly bringing back a detail that fans have longed for: the Nike Air logo on the heel. It is marking its first-ever appearance on this colorway.
The Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat” was first launched in 2006 as part of a duo release alongside the all-white “Pure Money” Air Jordan 4. Unlike many Jordan models that featured relatively bold color blocking, the “Black Cat” featured a monochromatic and all-black design.
The sneaker takes its name from one of Michael Jordan’s lesser-known nicknames: Black Cat. Jordan Brand has used the “Black Cat” theme across multiple sneaker releases over the years.
Reported design elements and features of the Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat” 2025 sneakers
The 2025 Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat” aims to replicate the details of the original while refining some details to align closer with the 1989 silhouette, Sneaker Bar Detroit reports.
It will be the first time that the "Black Cat" will reportedly feature the Nike Air logo on the heel tab and will be replacing the Jumpman logo from previous releases. This small change brings it in line with the OG Air Jordan 4s.
Early leaks also suggest that the Jordan Brand has tweaked the overall shape in order for it to match the 1989 original model. This means it would have a slightly higher ankle collar and a sleeker profile.
The upper will feature premium black nubuck. It will also include black mesh side panels, black laces, and black midsoles. The only contrast comes from the Light Graphite Jumpman logo on the tongue, which is also the single visible branding element. Its colorway is thus labeled Black/ Black - Light - Graphite.
Reported release details
Jordan Brand has reportedly scheduled the Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat” to drop on November 28, 2025, Black Friday. The MRP is set at $225, which is a slight bump from its 2020 price.
You can expect the shoe to be available via Nike SNKRS, Foot Locker, Champs, JD Sports, Finish Line, Sneaker Politics, CNCPTS, Extra Butter, and other Jordan Brand retailers. However, with a history of selling out instantly, securing a pair at retail will be a challenge.
The 2020 Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat” started at a retail price of $190. However, its resale prices skyrocketed to $800–$1,000. With the 2025 version featuring the Nike Air logo and a reimagined shape, its value is expected to climb even higher.
