The Golden Globes are one of the most glitzy evenings on the award season calendar, while occasionally being viewed as the Oscars' younger sister. Because the Globes reward television in addition to cinema, it also boasts a larger roster of A-list guests than either the Emmys or the Oscars. Every year, the Globes red carpet is a must-see location for beauty and fashion, and if you're searching for ideas for a formal event you have coming up, this is the ideal mood board.
1) Anjelica Huston
Although it's a little difficult to notice in this picture, Anjelica Huston is giving us a hair flip from the 1950s, some brows from the 1920s, and a flower in her hair that's reminiscent of the 1960s. (In case you were wondering, the year is 1974.) The convergence of these effects is truly remarkable.
2) Cher
One of our favorite looks of Cher was from the 1980s; she had officially abandoned her "Sonny and Cher" roots and adopted the decade's large hairstyles and accessories. However, we really adore the fact that she wears very little makeup and appears to be wearing a tank top underneath her jacket.
3) Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow attended the ceremony in support of her project, The Politician, which she starred in and executive produced. Brad Falchuk, her husband, was a co-creator of the show. As they strolled the red carpet together, the duo was captured on camera-looking content. She wore her signature middle partition for her hair and light yet sparkly makeup with what looks like a grey smokey eye.
4) Jessica Alba
Side parts, you are loved! Jessica Alba's 2013 Globes loop, complete with coral lip and outfit, is arguably her most famous moment. She started her acting career at the age of 13 in Camp Nowhere, then in The Secret World of Alex Mack. At the age of 19, she became well-known as the lead actor in the television series Dark Angel, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe.
5) Jenna Ortega
This is not an exception to Jenna Ortega's romantic yet somewhat daring makeup look, which is a bit less "out there" than the Wednesday Addams persona she portrays. We adore the long lashes and double cat-eye, and the pink blush and lips from the 1990s rescue the look from being overly dramatic. She started her career as a kid and gained fame for playing a younger Jane in the comedy-drama series Jane the Virgin on The CW. Her portrayal of Harley Diaz in the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle went on to earn her an Imagen Award.
6) Madonna
From the Globes to other events, the Queen of Pop has had many wardrobe moments. She's in full Evita mood here, which explains the flawlessly silky hair and rich wine-colored red lipstick, but we think this style is an underappreciated classic. Before she moved on to the next thing, it's worth remembering. Her constant innovation and adaptability in composition, music production, and visual presentation have earned her recognition.
7) Claudia Schiffer
Sometimes, getting the ideal glam doesn't require any elaborate effort. Sometimes, all that's needed for a basic spaghetti strap dress is a matching red lip (really, Claudia, how did you get it to match so well?) and sparse makeup elsewhere. I guess being a supermodel helps. She became a supermodel and one of the most successful models in the world in the 1990s.
8) Angelina Jolie
A simple look of wavy hair and natural make-up looks great on anybody. But someone like Angelina Jolie? Critics don't stand a chance. We adore her, and we adore this look even more! She has won three Golden Globes, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award, among many other honors. She has also been voted Hollywood's highest-paid actress on several occasions.
9) Charlize Theron
This jet-black bob with a light and natural look (especially the pinkish nude lips) is a great look for Charlize Theron. Her acting skills with characters with a certain edge make this look suitable for her all the more. She is one of the highest-paid actresses in the world and has won numerous honors, such as the Golden Globe and Academy Awards. She was listed as one of the 100 most important persons in the world by Time in 2016.
10) Emma Stone
Emma Stone has been known to pull off different colored hair throughout her entire career: Her natural blonde, the red hair we see in her teen rom-com Easy A, a brunette in her Golden Globe-winning film Poor Things, and the platinum blonde that she pulls off here at the 2011 Golden Globes. Among her many honors are two Golden Globes, two Academy Awards, and two British Academy Film Awards. She was the highest-paid actress in the world in 2017 and was listed as one of the 100 most important people in the world by Time magazine in the same year.
11) Julianne Hough
With her piercing blue eyes and platinum blonde hair, Julianne Hough made this look so popular. It was one of the most viral looks of the year: Her Faux Hawk in a slightly messy style. She began competing as a professional dancer on ABC's Dancing with the Stars in 2007, and she and her celebrity partners won two seasons.
12) Jennifer Lopez
Like we established before, we love side parts. Paired with the earrings and sparkly white and silver dress, JLo was an absolute vision. The contour and the smokey eyes give her the signature JLo look! She is recognized as one of the most significant Latin performers of her day, having helped advance the Latin pop music movement and breaking down barriers for Latino Americans in Hollywood. JLo is also renowned for changing conventional beauty standards, fashion, and branding, among other aspects of popular culture.
13) Drew Barrymore
In this baby blue Dior Haute Couture gown, Drew Barrymore let her inner princess out. Drew's exquisitely styled blond hair, rhinestone-encrusted red satin purse, and opulent diamond cuff bracelet added even more significance to the garment. Belonging to the Barrymore family of actresses, she has been nominated for nine Emmy Awards, a British Academy Film Award, and numerous other honors, including a Golden Globe Award.
14) Kate Beckinsale
The 50-year-old actress wore a glittering silver Atelier Zuhra gown to the 2024 Golden Globes. It was a high-necked bodysuit with no sleeves and no bottoms on top of a sheer skirt, adorned with metallic cuff bracelets on either arm and a big rosette on one shoulder. Beckinsale, a presenter at the ceremony, which took place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, accessorized her stylish swept-up hairstyle with a number of silver statement pieces, such as rings and earrings.
15) Florence Pugh
Hairstylist Adir Abergel produced a multi-layered style that featured a pompadour on top and twists along the back after colorist Matt Rez created a dimensional frosty blonde tone throughout. On the 2024 Golden Globe red carpet, Florence looked stunning when paired with the septum ring and bold makeup.
16) Sheryl Lee Ralph
With a smashing yellow-and-black Safiyaa gown, the veteran actress Sheryl Lee Ralph said that she worked with her stylist, her daughter, on her look for the night. The dramatic hairstyle gives the "wind-in-your-hair" look with glamourous make-up. Well-known for her theater and film roles, she received praise for her portrayal of Deena Jones in the Broadway production Dreamgirls, for which she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.
17) Michelle Pfeiffer
Rare for the time, Michelle Pfeiffer sports a pretty minimalistic look which still looks extremely elegant. Her hair is effortlessly styled to fall on both sides with a middle partition. As a candidate for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for her role in Frankie and Johnny, Michelle attended the ceremony.
18) Ali Wong
With light layered makeup and a slicked back back-do, Ali Wong looks elegantly and effortlessly beautiful. There are very few people who can actually pull off a slicked-back look, and Ali Wong is absolutely one of them. Her stand-up shows on Netflix, including Baby Cobra, Hard Knock Wife, Don Wong, and Single Lady, have made her most famous. She was a writer and producer on the romantic comedy movie Always Be My Maybe, in which she also starred.
19) Dua Lipa
With a pink theme for her entire look, Dua Lipa stunned in pink hue make-up and pinkish-nude lipstick. She also sported the wavy hair look in a stunning wine color. She was listed as one of the 100 most important persons in the world by Time magazine in 2024. Before pursuing a career in music and signing with Warner Bros. in 2014, Lipa worked as a model.
20) Taylor Swift
With her signature bangs, Taylor paired her green Gucci gown with complimentary make-up, giving her an elegant and gorgeous look for the red carpet. A prominent character in popular music and the focus of extensive media coverage, Swift is well-known for her autobiographical lyrics, creative reimaginings, and cultural influence.
