The story behind the Wittelsbach-Graff Diamond reveals that sometimes bigger is not always better. The diamond was originally bought by Laurence Graff at $23.4 million when it weighed 35.56 carats. In his possession, he shaved off around 4 carats and improved the clarity and quality of the diamond. This improved version of the Wittelsbach-Graff Diamond is now priced at $80 million.
