Awards season is the most magical time of the year in Hollywood. We all love to see the looks our favorite celebrities don each year. Though Golden Globes is quite an enigmatic affair for film and television, some musicians make their mark by giving us some really good original music through these movies and television shows. However, it's even better when we get to experience the magic of their presence on the red carpet! So as the 82nd Golden Globe Awards are all set to be held on January 5, 2025, we thought, why not take a look at some of the most banger looks that musicians have served us at the Golden Globes over the years?
1) Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift was nominated for her concert film in 2024, and has been nominated 4 more times before. Her looks at the Golden Globes always become the talk of the town for at least a few months after the event! She wore a green sparkly bodycon dress with spaghetti straps. She completed her look with long dangly crystal earrings. A prominent character in popular music and the focus of extensive media coverage, Swift is well-known for her autobiographical lyrics, creative reinterpretations, and cultural influence.
2) Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish attended the 81st Golden Globes with her brother and fellow artist FINNEAS. The siblings won a Golden Globe for best Original Song for the song "What Was I Made For?" from the hit of the year, "Barbie". She wore an oversized black blazer on a white shirt and black tie and paired it with a beige colored oversized skirt. She styled her hair in a quintessential 'Billie' look and dyed her hair black and red, styling it with red hair twirls on the front.
3) John Legend
You can't go wrong with a classic tuxedo. This is exactly what the legendary singer wore when he won his first even Golden Globe. John Legend won the trophy in the Best Original Song category, for his song "Glory" with rapper and actor, Common in 2015, for which he also won an Academy Award in the same year. Legend's Emmy for "Jesus Christ Superstar" in 2018 made him the first Black man to receive an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony).
4) Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa, who received her first-ever Golden Globe nomination for her song "Dance The Night" from the highly regarded movie "Barbie" in the Best Original Song-Motion Picture category, walked the red carpet at the 2024 Golden Globes in a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind black and gold attire. She wore a pinkish-nude make-up and had dyed her hair in a glazing shiny wine color. She was listed as one among the 100 most influential persons in the world by TIME magazine in 2024.
5) Fantasia Barrino
Fantasia Barrino gave a breakout performance in the revered film "The Color Purple" which earned her a first ever Golden Globe nomination in 2024. Her rendition of the Porgy and Bess classic "Summertime" during the third season of American Idol in 2004 catapulted her to fame, and she went on to win that season. She wore a three layered strapless gown with a Black top, white patterened middle and a light blow skirt. She completed the look with a pair of black gloves.
6) Hailee Steinfeld
At the 81st Golden Globe Awards, actress and presenter Hailee Steinfeld dazzled on the red carpet wearing a pink dress and black gloves. She had previously been nominated in the Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture category, for her role in the coming-of-age film "The Edge of Seventeen". Her breakthrough came with the western True Grit, for which she received a number of honors, including BAFTA and Academy Award nominations.
7) Jon Batiste
One of the most revered singers and composers of his time, Jon Batiste, was nominated for (and won) his first ever Golden Globe for his work on the Disney Pixar film "Soul" in the Best Original Score category, in 2021. Additionally, he has been nominated for twenty-two Grammy Awards and has won five of them, including Album of the Year for "We Are" in 2021 as well. Batiste wore a black shirt and black trousers, paired with a black blazers. He paired it with a crystal brooch and a silver chain necklace.
8) Lenny Kravitz
The legendary singer was nominated for his first ever Golden Globe at the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards in the Original Song – Motion Picture category, for his original song in the film Rustin titled "Road to Freedom". Lenny Kravitz attended the Golden Globes wearing an Alexander McQueen tuxedo jumpsuit. His signature dreadlocks compliment his look in wonderful fashion.
9) Lorde
Lorde was nominated for a Golden Globe for the song "Yellow Flicker Beat" from Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I, in the Best Original Song - Motion Picture category. Wearing a striking red lip and a Narciso Rodriguez costume reminiscent of Marlene Dietrich, she shone on the red carpet. Lorde entered the red carpet in fashionable black crop top paired with black trousers and a black blazer. She wore a crystal necklace paired with a crimson red lip to complete the outfit.
10) Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga has been nominated for Golden Globes multiple times with her first ever nomination coming in 2016 in the Best Performance by an Actress In A Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television category for her work in the fifth installment of America Horror Story: Hotel. She won the award at the event. Lady Gaga dressed like Cinderella from the Disney fairytale at the red carpet in 2024. To compliment the dress, she dyed her platinum blonde hair blue.
11) Mark Ronson
Mark Ronson is also another artist on our list who has been nominated for a Golden Globe multiple times, with the first one coming in 2019. He was nominated for two awards that night. He has also received eight Grammy Awards, including two for Record of the Year (for Amy Winehouse's 2006 single "Rehab" and his own 2014 hit "Uptown Funk") and Producer of the Year (for album Back to Black).
12) Adele
Dressed in a round-neck black Burberry floor length boat neck gown, and her signature 2010s quiff, Adele won a Golden Globe in 2013 in the Best Original Song category for her song "Skyfall". Known for her mezzo-soprano vocals and heartfelt compositions, she is regarded as one of the best vocalists of her generation. She has received 16 Grammy Awards, 12 Brit Awards, a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, and a Primetime Emmy.
13) Madonna
Wearing this tight around the bosom Dolce & Gabbana dress, Madonna looks gorgerous in this all black dress with a pair of black gloves. She won a Golden Globe at the 54th Annual Golden Globe Awards for her work in Evita in the Best Actress – Musical or Comedy Golden Globe category. In a crushed black Schiaparelli gown, matched with the pair of velvet black gloves and a shawl, Rihanna stunned the red carpet at the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards. She also wore a crystal necklace with matching earrings and a trendy braided loop hairstyle. Rihanna was nominated for her song "Lift Me Up" from the movie, Wakanda Forever.
15) Selena Gomez
The recently engaged singer and actress was all smiles on the 81st Golden Globe red carpet, wearing a stunning custom Giorgio Armani Prive dress. She was nominated for her work in the Disney+ series Only Murders In The Building in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy category. She has also been nominated in two categories at the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards for the same role and in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture category for the Zoe Saldana led film Emilia Perez.
