It is the last day of the year and 2024 has been an adventurous year in terms of fashion runway shows. 2024 is full of asymmetrical cuts, eccentric color combinations, interesting patterns, and fabric fusion. Designers have released all their Spring to Fall collections and it is time we recap some of the best fashion runway shows of 2024.

1) Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection 2024

All eyes were on the Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection 2024 which was designed by Margiela's ex-Creative Director, John Galliano. The show was a creative masterpiece inspired by nights in Paris. The designs have an eerie, Gothic vibe to them, reminiscent of R. L. Stevenson's, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. The looks featured snatched corsets, which is a Galliano signature look.

2) Louis Vuitton Women's Voyager Show

The Women's Voyager looks for Louis Vuitton were designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. The collection was a mix of silhouettes, bright colors, patterns, and designs. An interesting detail that adds a striking look is the balloon animals that are printed on some of the designs. The collection also had a mix of florals, stripes, and cut-outs.

3) Kiko Kostadinov SS24 Womenswear

The Kiko Kostadinov SS24 Womenswear collection is a transformation of woodland fairies into a more modern city look. The highlight of the designs is the combination of different fabrics with asymmetrical cuts. Some pieces in the collection are made to look like they are worn upside-down, introducing an interesting twist to wearing clothes.

4) Dior Spring-Summer 2024 Ready-to-Wear Show

The Creative Director of Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri, curated this line. The looks are a culmination of the past, the present, and the future. The designs also accentuate the nature of femininity through the soft, flowy fabrics, and delicate lace pieces. According to Chiuri, the inspiration is derived from "witches, custodians of the knowledge of the mother-goddess".

5) Tory Burch Fall/Winter 2024

Tory Burch's Fall / Winter 2024 collection focuses on the shapes of the designs. This idea is inspired by the construction of handbags. The pieces are a combination of femininity and sharp edges. While the materials used include "faux croc, calf hair next to paper leather, frayed wool, and unraveling ruffles". As for the accessories, Burch included a "Pierced pump, a 3D-printed minaudière, and a new shopper tote".

6) Emilio Pucci Vivara Spring-Summer 24 Fashion Show

The Pucci Vivara Spring-Summer 24 Fashion Show is inspired by the island of Vivara and the Eternal City, Rome. The Vivara show is Camille Miceli's second runway and it features interesting patterns and swirls that are hypnotic to the eye. According to Pucci, the designs are "Striking, solar, sexy".

7) Saint Laurent Men’s Winter 24 Collection

The Saint Laurent Men's 2024 Collection is curated by Anthony Vaccarello. As usual, Saint Laurent excels at making minimalism chic. The collection is a combination of blacks, greys, maroon, nude, and earthy hues. It is also a mix of different fabrics and materials, from black leather to shiny satin, for every day to high-end looks.

8) Simone Rocha Autumn/Winter 2024 Collection

Simone Rocha is known for her experiments with fabrics and patterns. The Autumn/Winter 2024 Collection sees a mix of tulle, furs, and embellishments. The see-through embellished pieces oozes soft femininity, while the darker and heavier designs highlight the strength and power of a woman.

The "Les Sculptures" Spring-Summer 2024 show was at Fondation Maeght, France. It is a definition of classic silhouettes with a creative twist. The designs are inspired by works of art that have graced "the spirit of modernity for 60 years". The collection is a mix of nudes, black, grey, animal prints, and a pop of red.

From the classic button-down designs to the innovative floral artistry, Balmain's Women's Spring- Summer 2024 is both avant-garde and wearable. There is a mix of polka dots and floral prints, including floral appliques. Balmain toes the line between tradition and modern innovation with this collection.

11) Alaïa Summer Fall 2024

According to Alaïa, "The Summer Fall 2024 collection is about simplicity and purity. It’s about intimacy, about reducing to an essence, about finding a freedom and invention in that". The main feature of the collection is the usage of the Merino well in different ways and designs. It is inspired by the concept of curves and circles, "the curves of women, and circles of friends, of chosen family".

12) Loewe SS24 women’s show

The Loewe SS24 women’s show is a collaboration with Lynda Benglis, an artist who has integrated monumental bronze sculptures and a series of jewelry pieces into the collection. According to Loewe, this collection is all about "Reducing fashion to the silhouette, focusing on the outline".

13) Alexander McQueen Spring / Summer 2024 Show Anatomy II

The Creative Director of Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton, has stated that the Spring / Summer 2024 collection is "inspired by female anatomy, Queen Elizabeth I, the blood red rose and Magdalena Abakanowicz, a transgressive and powerfully creative artist who refused ever to compromise her vision." The show is dedicated to the memory of Lee Alexander McQueen.

The Balenciaga Summer 2024 collection is a mix of daywear and eveningwear. In the signature Balenciaga style, the silhouettes of certain pieces such as coats are exaggerated, especially the shoulder pads. Some of the looks take heavy inspiration from wedding dresses during the early years such as the 2000s.
