When director Jon M. Chu disclosed that the "For Good" Wicked trailer did not air because of technical issues, fans were kept in suspense as the highly anticipated movie trailer was supposed to enchant them during the Super Bowl. Twitter responded promptly with its typical wit and humor, as was to be anticipated.

In the widely shared reply,

"we blame who?" one fan in particular encapsulated the general vibes.

Fans are both unhappy and curious about what went wrong behind the scenes and who, if anybody, is responsible for the disastrous trailer presentation. The movie is still highly anticipated, (obviously), and fans are clamoring for a makeup trailer to be released as soon as possible despite the setback.

Technical difficulties delay the Wicked trailer at the Super Bowl, leaving fans hilariously pointing fingers

Social media was exploding with responses when it was revealed that the Wicked trailer would not be shown during the Super Bowl. The timeline was packed with memes, gifs, and insightful tweets that conveyed anything (and everything) from humor to frustration.

One tweet took a direct jab at the situation,

“we know the emilia perez director had something to do with this,” dragging in another film for a tongue-in-cheek scapegoat.

Another fan didn’t hold back their impatience, writing,

“well give it to us now then,” reflecting the universal sentiment that no amount of technical issues should stop the release of this trailer.

The disappointment was real for others, with one fan lamenting,

“WE COULD’VE HAD A TRAILER????” accompanied by a dramatic gif of Trisha Paytas crying, which perfectly captured the emotional rollercoaster fans were on.

Another added humor to the situation, stating,

“even the Super Bowl didn’t believe in magic,” playing off the fact that the enchanting Wicked just couldn’t catch a break.

As the blame game continued, another fan jokingly pointed fingers in an unexpected direction:

“we blame gracie abhrams.”

It seems that in a world of magical mishaps, anyone could be held responsible for the trailer blackout.

But perhaps the most relatable reaction came from the tweet that simply said,

“we lost so bad omg.”

Whether they meant the loss of the trailer or something Super Bowl-related, it summed up the disappointment everyone felt at that moment.

The Wicked trailer that wasn't premiered: What happened?

Why did the Wicked teaser not premiere during the Super Bowl as scheduled? Let's dive in: Director Jon M. Chu claims that technical difficulties were to blame for the accident. After the claims, he commented this under Pop Base's tweet:

Chu promised fans that the trailer would be published soon and that there will be a lot more to look forward to with the future movie, even if no specifics were given - and we're so excited!

With Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, the Wicked movie version of the second part has been in development for a while now. The movie has been scheduled to be released in two parts, with the first portion opening in theatres in November 2024 (which was fun) and part two in 2025. As an early teaser, the Super Bowl video was meant to give viewers a preview of the magic that will unfold.

Although it was unfortunate that there was no trailer, the anticipation for the film has not faded in the slightest. Wicked is anticipated to be a huge success as the release date draws nearer, and fans are excitedly anticipating every look they can receive.
