Everyone says that AI is here to rule the world, but this notion was dismissed by the 'None Pizza with Left Beef' meme. Hollywood writer Steve Molaro dismissed the opinion in 2007, even before AI was relevant. One day, Steve decided to experiment on Domino's. Domino's had introduced a cool new pizza delivery feature, and the curious George inside Molaro wanted to test the feature.

Steve Molaro wanted to check the accuracy of the feature and see how it would prevail. He ordered two pizzas that night, and the results we posted on his blog the next day became very popular, with everyone trying it out. Eventually, it became the 'None Pizza with Left Beef' meme. Even after 17 years, the experiment and its hilarious result still make everyone laugh, even Domino's.

What is the story behind the 'None Pizza with Left Beef' meme?

It was October 18, and American TV writer and producer Steve Molaro was chilling in his home when he remembered something. He understood that it was 2007 and the world was technologically advanced now. He realized that it was a great time to be an introvert. No one needed to prepare in front of a mirror and practice placing an order for pizza.

Domino's Pizza had come to everyone's rescue and was the first pizza chain to introduce a new pizza delivery system wherein customers could order pizza online through their website. As if this wasn't enough, Domino's was being creative about it. They allowed customers to choose which side of the pizza they wanted toppings on. This intrigued Molaro. He was blown away by this feature and wanted to check its accuracy. So, he decided to go ahead and order two pizzas.

First, he ordered a pizza with mushrooms on the left side and pepperoni on the right side. The order arrived as directed. He then took it up a notch and ordered another pizza. This time, he chose 'None' for all the toppings options but with only beef toppings on the left side (hence the name None Pizza with Left Beef).

Shortly after, the pizza arrived exactly as it was ordered. It is safe to say that Steve's mind was blown. The beef was scattered throughout the box. Molaro explained that the pizza was very light and had no sauce or cheese to hold the beef pellets.

He quickly opened his laptop and logged into his blog page to share the results of his experiment online. In the following weeks, the blog post received immense traction online and went viral, especially on Tumblr. Many readers ordered the pizza and their variations and shared the results online. This order opened the floodgates for funny food orders and unusual instructions.

Where are they now: 'None Pizza with Left Beef' meme

After its huge success, the blog post is a trendsetter for unusual restaurant orders and has become a viral internet meme that is relevant even today. The post has been referenced many times, including in Tamsyn Muir's novel Locked Tomb. Domino's also acknowledged the meme in April 2022 after mentioning it in one of its tweets.

Since people learned to place unusual orders because of the 'None Pizza with Left Beef' meme, Domino's sent a warning prompt to any user who would choose to remove cheese or pizza sauce from the topping options.

Additionally, the popularity of the 'None Pizza with Left Beef' meme allowed it to make its way into merchandising. Several embroideries, jewelry pieces, stickers, and T-shirts are made about this meme. It even has its own Wikipedia page.

On the 15th anniversary of the meme, Steve Molaro reordered the pizza, and a duplicate order was delivered to him with the exact placement of the beef toppings.
