The 6-7 TikTok meme is taking over the internet as netizens continue to make hilarious versions of the meme. Initially, it was being circulated with NBA edits and featured a popular rap song. However, as it gained momentum on TikTok, it emerged into a brain rot trend, where people just referenced the number.

Internet users focused on the number '6-7' and used it as context to the former trend. Soon, more TikTokers joined the bandwagon and made sure that it didn't leave the feed. Such trends are usually popularized for the lack of context.

This one did have a context but could be categorized under the 'meaningless' tag.

Setting the Context

The meme video usually featured Scrilla's track, Doot Doot, which soon became popular on TikTok. It has a recurring usage of '6-7' in its chorus.

Shooters stay strapped, I don’t need mine, Bro put belt right to they behind, The way that switch brrt I know he dyin, 6-7

The lines reportedly refer to 67th Street of Chicago, relating to Skrilla's backstory. The song caught NBL fans' attention as the number is equivalent to celebrated basketball player LaMelo Ball's height. Basketball enthusiasts soon started creating fan edits featuring the player.

Decoding the origin of the 6-7 TikTok meme

Although the actual origin of the meme is not confirmed, let's delve into one of the earliest versions. A basketball commentator claimed that LaMelo Ball plays like a player who's 6'1 or 6'2, although he's 6'7. TikTok users edited the clip with Doot Doot's chorus, and the commentator's words were synced with the rap's 6-7.

The Internet found the symphony hilarious and satisfying. It sparked amusement for quite some time as it became the anthem for the basketball player. Next, the 6-7 TikTok meme took an unexpected turn.

Fans started referencing the video in a different set of memes. Most of the memes featured their selfie videos where they dramatically enacted the effect of the original video. In a TikTok video, user @bigsgmarsh narrated her reaction when someone claimed to have gotten 67 on the test.

In another video by the user @arriebrownn, she shared a hack to tell you have a crush on LaMelo, without saying you have a crush on LaMelo. All you have to say are the two digits. Easy and effective, right?

The 6-7 TikTok meme is one of those memes that has changed courses since they were introduced. Soon, we shall see more versions on other social media platforms as well!
