Lilo & Stitch (2025) is an upcoming live-action that chronicles the adventures of Lilo, a Hawaiian girl who mistakenly adopts the galaxy's most hyperactive alien, Stitch. Supported by a stellar cast that includes Zach Galifianakis and Tia Carrere, it is likely that this film is going to be a laugh riot and is set to release in theatres on May 23, 2025. The official poster for Lilo & Stitch, released by Disney, has already been making quite the waves on social media.

Fans react hilariously to Lilo & Stitch's official poster

Live-action movies seem to be in vogue lately, and the upcoming Lilo & Stitch movie is no exception. It brings a fresh perspective to the original animated classic from 2002, which kids once enjoyed watching. Hence, when Disney unveiled the official poster for the upcoming movie, intentionally or intentionally, it gained massive traction, with netizens lapping it up and not letting it go.

Was it a marketing ploy or a genuine slip? We will never know. But a mishap or not, the internet never forgets, with fans having a field day trolling the upcoming movie to the hilt. Discussions ranged from clever wordplay from the poster to alternative ideas for the live-action, and they let the makers know them all:

"Well they picked the right tag line thats for sure...", joked one fan (via X / @one_big_boss)
"I'm tired. I thought that lamp was a venom tongue", quipped another (via X / @pupilex)

Social media has been blowing up with memes, with fans roasting the live-action character designs without mercy. Stitch, the blue furball of chaos, sparked comparisons ranging from "blue gremlin" to "the genie from Aladdin", which was hilarious to read about:

"GUYS HE ATE THE GENIE!!????", wondered one fan (via X / @TwitchGlitch_Yt)
"It's almost like, he was made to be an abomination and an agent of chaos", said another fan, (@ihate_bills) who defended the character designs.

While some fans wondered if the franchise had become self-aware, others quickly moved on to offering alternative analogies and made demands that had the entire internet community in Stitches (pun intended):

"Can we get a poster spoofing Christopher Robin with Stitch chasing Winnie the Pooh?", pleaded one fan (via X / @searcher_gold)
"Aight, but imagine putting a realistic Stitch outfit on the Nvidia Blue robot....", wondered another. (via X / @NotABotherin)

Now that is something we can all get behind!

Publicity stunt or not, the poster for Lilo & Stitch surely has got people talking and created buzz for the upcoming live-action movie. The fans even demanded a pay raise for the marketing team while admitting that they might have been too quick to make judgments and thus, might have come to hasty conclusions.

The poster for Lilo & Stitch has sparked a virtual frenzy that shows no signs of slowing down. The internet is a circus of memes, automatically churning out material for the movie and in the process, keeping it relevant to public discourse. Disney seems to be on a mission to recreate the same buzz that accompanied the launch of the original animated movie which included a sequence where Stitch is wreaking havoc in the Disney castle.

And by the looks of it, they have indeed got people to engage with the idea of the new live-action. So for better or for worse, the hype is real and it's going nowhere!
