The person who said "the best things in life are free" was lying because if that were true, then Pokémon Champions would be free too. Pokémon is one of the most beloved franchises in the world. People are crazy for it, and the makers know it; that's why they get away with pulling stunts like these.

They could sell broken glass and call it the Crystal Onix shield, and people will line up outside the showroom like the Great Wall of China to buy it. That is why the makers of Pokémon Champions are pushing the limits and releasing the game in a digital-only format and as a paid title.

If you thought that this was hard to hear, then be warned, the troubles have not yet ended. There is more to the story. The makers of Pokémon Champions did not stop there, a Nintendo Switch Online membership will also be required to play the game online. Thankfully, the same isn't required for F2P games. At least they were nice enough to let this one thing go.

Also, as of now, the pricing is for the Switch version only, what will be the pricing system for the mobile version is yet to be known.

Fans are ready to sell themselves as soon as they hear anything related to Pokémon has released. But the news about Pokémon Champions has made them think about whether it is worth it. Pokémon might be a huge brand, but the real champions are the people who are not questioning anything and are just waiting with their bank cards to buy the game.

Fan reaction to Pokémon Champions reportedly being a paid digital-only game

Pokémon fans expressed their concern over this decision and expressed their opinions online. Their comments were both angry and hilarious at the same time. People were questioning the decision and reconsidering their fandoms. Here are some of the hilariously frustrated comments that will leave you in splits.

A user @furanzux had a stern reaction and commented,

"We won't be playing then"

Another user, @MaxTheThawne, was quick to respond to the news with this comment,

"There goes the hype"

One more user, @JacobRayLawson, felt bad for Pokemon and expressed it with this comment,

"Damn, Pokemon Day has taken so many L today"

User @WalkingWeike asked a genuine question,

"Then why would anyone play this instead of Showdown?"

User @themaiker_ decided to do some wordplay,

"First pokemon game to sell zero copies"

Another user, @kinglibra288, seemed angry with this comment,

"Dead on arrival"

The hype for Pokémon Champions has waned a bit with this news, but as of now, no confirmation has been given by Nintendo.
