A 100-dollar lottery ticket is a big deal, let alone a $1 Million one!

God works in mysterious ways. We have heard the popular saying countless times while growing up. This phrase might have given us hope and faith when times got rough. But, did you know that sometimes the mysterious ways include winning 1 Million dollars as a lottery prize?

So, here's an interesting case about a surprising jackpot. A woman in Virginia named Jacqueline Mangus purchased a Jackpot ticket. On Christmas Eve, she was strolling across Lake Mart & Deli on Scruggs Road in Moneta, when she made the purchase.

She got home and guess where she decided to preserve the lucky ticket? In the Bible. A gateway to immense lumpsum wealth should be kept in safe hands, right? And what can be safer than the pages of the Holy Amendment? And it turned out that the Fates understood the assignment.

The morning of the $1 Million lottery ticket announcement

Jacqueline Mangus worked as a nurse in Bedford County. On the day of the prize reveal, she was getting ready for her job. However, this morning turned out to be different than usual. The television reporter announced that one of the winning tickets was purchased in Moneta.

She casually turned the pages of the Bible, testing her luck. She was taken aback when she realized that the number announced belonged to her ticket. The ticket flashed before her eyes and she couldn't process the sudden turn of events.

However, a workaholic's ethics works more mysteriously than the Almighty! Instead of celebrating or claiming the prize, she decided to go to her workplace for her shift. Kudos to her conviction, as most of us would have immediately emailed our resignation letter!

I mean, she had one million waiting for her, but the first thought to cross her mind was, "Maybe I need to get to my monotonous job." Anyway, maybe that's the thing about healthcare officials. So, we can empathize with where she was coming from.

Back to our story, the woman narrated the incident to Virginia Lottery officials.

I was tickled to death! ~ Jacqueline Mangus told the officials.

About Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle

Five 1M dollar winning tickets were sold in the 2025 Raffle, out of which one was sold at Moneta. The four winners bought the tickets in Ashburn, Fishersville, Henrico and Herndon. Although we don't know about the backstories of the other winners, this incident has sparked amusement and awe among netizens.

Maybe, this is your sign to give your luck a shot. And yes, don't forget to keep it carefully in your Bible!
