WWE is the brainchild of Vince McMahon. He was the visionary leader behind the transformation of WWE from a regional promotion to the behemoth of the industry. He likes to stay in the limelight, but his reputation has been tarnished a lot since a number of scandals came out. It even led to him resigning from the board of TKO, and public sightings of the business tycoon have been rare ever since.
Fans lose their marbles as Vince McMahon is sighted at an NBA game
Vince McMahon is the human epitome of a walking meme factory. His strut alone is enough to provide meme material for generations to come. But he is a man of controversies galore, and his life is a soap opera where the plot twists involve subpoenas, shredded documents, and the occasional dramatic return to WWE TV.
So when Vince McMahon, the man who invented “sports entertainment,” was spotted at the Knicks vs. Heat game, it was pure chaos. Seated courtside and wearing a bright green suit, he was introduced as a 'former wrestling promoter' on the live broadcast. This made the game even more hilarious to watch, and fans shared the sentiments on social media as well. One fan in particular refused to believe his eyes:
"Nah that’s Dr. Doom", quipped one fan (via X / @RealisticBuck)
To be fair, Vince has been away from the public limelight for the longest time, and seeing him popping up on the screen randomly is bound to create some confusion in the fans' minds. Fans were quick to roast him for the appearance, with one fan (RoEdwardsRPM), who was completely oblivious to the concept of aging, likening him to an old grandma:
"He's starting to morph into someone's grandma a little more each day"
We think that's what is supposed to happen when a guy is touching 80, isn't it?
Knowing Vince, he was probably on the lookout for a scouting mission to facilitate a Slam Dunk Royal Rumble! Vince was a thorough WWE man in the time he was there, and when he's in the building, wrestling references are always around the corner:
"Bro looks like he’s about to announce the main event at WrestleMania", joked one fan (via X / @ellailonaaa)
"Vince McMahon in the crowd scouting new WWE talent", wondered another fan (via X / @AnyaLacey01)
Another talking point from the Knicks game was Tracy Morgan hurling up at courtside, and we really hope he gets better soon!
A lot has changed since he resigned from his position on the board of TKO, with the global promotion now arguably in a better state than ever. One thing he was always insistent on was John Cena remaining true to his roots and inspiring hope for us all. Had it been up to him, Cena would've remained a face till he retired. As one fan (@_Purpleface) pointed out, he must be fuming right now after seeing the recent state of affairs....
"I cant believe they turned Cena heel"
Seeing Vince walk like a normal person just doesn't sit right with us. So ingrained his iconic strut has become into our brains. While some fans rushed to make fun of him, others were pleasantly surprised to see the former chairman of the WWE at the Knicks game.
"Do you just expect him to be hiding in the house looking through this blinds all day?', questioned the fan (via X / @justinbowtie)
Yes, it was about time that Vince McMahon made a public appearance! However, it being not in WWE is still a bit new and weird to us. The man can’t watch basketball without turning it into WWE Raw, and if given a chance, he'd probably book all of the players in a ladder match for Wrestlemania!
Amid his ongoing legal dramas, Vince's appearance felt like a plot twist in a bad sitcom, which caught all of us napping. Vince McMahon making an appearance at a basketball game while looking like he's about to hurl up those famous words "YOU'RE FIRED" at any given moment to the ref is not something we had in our Bingo Books for 2025!
If there is one thing this event proved: Knicks games are a comedy goldmine, and they are something you'd never want to miss!
