Livestreamer and YouTuber Norme set the world record for standing still for the longest period. The record, an astonishing 38 hours of pure immobility, was streamed live on March 4, 2025, and held the attention of thousands of viewers who, for reasons best known to themselves, chose to watch a man just stand there.
38 hours of Norme doing absolutely nothing. And just to be clear, this was not a “challenge” issued by anyone. This was purely Norme’s idea, a self-inflicted test of human endurance.
Of course, the internet, being so keen on making fun of anything and everything under the sun, didn't delay in ridiculing the stunt. One user described the situation as:
"That 1 jobless friend at 2pm on a Tuesday."
The only thing that’s more impressive than Norme’s dedication is the fact that someone watched this for 38 hours.
And the first thing that came to this user's mind:
"Jesus did he get bathroom breaks?"
If he stood still for 38 hours with zero bathroom breaks, he deserves another world record for most impressive bladder.
A user took the jab to a whole new level, mentioning:
"Standing still for 38 hours? That's what I call dedication. Too bad our politicians can't stand still for 5 minutes without making a mistake."
Yet another user served a roast, saying:
"Disney World will look at this and make sure it’s a requirement for their TMs."
Next time you visit Disney World, expect a lot of standing still and no bathroom breaks.
A user humorously commented:
"This intern wished to have a jobless job like this."
Interns wish they were getting paid for standing still.
One user quipped:
"Bro needs to get a job."
Bro has a job, he is just standing still for 38 hours as a professional.
A user joked:
"What's the diaper brand he is using?"
Norme’s team needs to get sponsored by Pampers after this.
"I completed my world record attempt to ignore such useless rubbish."
Nice try, but commenting disqualifies you from the ‘ignore it’ challenge. Better luck next time.
Norme's history and motivation for extreme stunts
Norme's route to internet stardom hasn't been normal.
His most notorious achievement occurred in 2024 when he attempted to shatter the record for staying up the longest amount of time—an arduous 265 hours, or just more than 11 days, trying to break Randy Gardner's record of 264 hours and 24 minutes in 1964.
However, Guinness World Records ceased to accept sleep deprivation records back in 1997 due to serious health dangers.
The internet was not happy with Norme's reckless ambition. Norme faced several bans on YouTube and Twitch for breaching platform guidelines. Worried viewers even called police welfare checks during the stream.
But Norme completed the marathon on Rumble and he did so with extreme health consequences, including hallucinations and passing out.
Later in 2024, Norme attempted a very controversial challenge: spending 30 days in solitary confinement in total darkness.
Norme isolated himself in a tiny, dark room, with a mattress and a camera as his sole companions. To make it even more intense, Norme deprived himself of any outside stimulus, eschewing light, human contact, and even simple comforts.
By November 8, 2024, Norme had gone through more than 22 days, or more than 500 hours, without leaving his basement. He has also done strange things such as not blinking for more than two hours or consuming a real cactus.
Hence, it's just the name that is norme for you.
