President Donald Trump revealed that TikTok now has another 75 days to complete the sale. The firm that owns TikTok, ByteDance, has until June 19, 2025, to dispose of its US business or risk being banned... unless we get 75 additional days.

This is the second time the deadline has been pushed. The initial deadline was in January, which was then moved to April, providing the company with additional time to get things in order. Because the deal has not yet been completed, the deadline has been pushed again.

The deadline was extended after several big US companies, such as Amazon and Blackstone, indicated they would be interested in acquiring TikTok's US business.

TikTok is under the threat of a ban as the Supreme Court has raised national security concerns.

Since TikTok initially came under threat of a ban, it has been a huge topic for memes on the internet. Folks have been making fun of what they would be doing if TikTok really got banned, with some speculating that the app is probably never going to get banned, and others didn't care about the alleged leaks that come with the app.

When the ban was first rumored, even a transition to a Chinese app named RedNote was made, where users were signing up eagerly before TikTok's potential ban.

Now that the ban has been postponed again for an additional 75 days, users are still responding with memes, stating that TikTok will never get banned. Rather, they think it will just continue getting extended for another 75 more days repeatedly.

Social media reacts as TikTok ban gets 75-day extension

Netizens are joking that after those 75 days are over, the ban will simply be extended once more—and then again once more. In their view, TikTok is in a state of ban limbo, where it's not quite banned and not entirely safe.

With it being hard to close a deal for the app, people think that the ban will simply be extended indefinitely.

An X user @Einthedarkness mentioned:

"So are they just gonna do this every 75 days."

A user @mind_talkss humorously suggested:

"It will keep extending till his tenure expires."

Another user @BoujeeNcvnt added:

"And after that 75 days is over they extend it for another 75 days right? Ijbol."

One user @BharatX20 said:

"Another delay-TikTok’s limbo continues."

Some users teased that perhaps no one even wants to purchase TikTok, although it does look like an enormous business venture. Others likened the ongoing extension of deadlines to in-game items that continually get renewed.

Users even joked that one could come up with a dance trend that could save TikTok from a ban.

A user @forkyishere stated:

"Looks like no one is really interested LOL."

Another user @PhiThaGreat asked:

"Is someone going to buy it or not?"

One user @OmniraAi joked:

"TikTok out here stacking executive extensions like it’s a mobile game with in-app deadlines."

A user @BourbEnthusiasm suggested:

"75 more days to find the dance trend that will save us all."

Some users posted memes stating that TikTok is never really getting banned. Others likened it to that one assignment you're constantly assuring your teacher you'll complete over the weekend—but never will.

A user thought it was not going anywhere in the first place.

One user @ultronymous quipped:

"Me getting an extension on my assignment after I swore to my teacher that I was gonna do it this weekend."

President Trump has stated he is optimistic that someone will soon purchase TikTok's US business and prevent it from getting into this constant ban limbo.
