The TikTok ban proved once again that things don't always go our way, no matter the public support. The ban came into effect and left millions of Gen Zs to do something they had never done before: come together and put their heads together. The app that was known for viral dances, dangerous, arguably crazy stunts, and people getting into your face on the street asking, "Which restaurant is your favorite?" has now left the room.
While the app is mostly remembered for cringe content, let's not forget it also gave rise to many great things. It gave us more variety of entertainment and ended Hollywood's monopoly. People who became famous on TikTok reached celebrity status, which made many Hollywood celebrities join the app.
Banning the app may not have left a dent in Hollywood's pocket, but it sure is worrisome for content creators relying on the app for income. Those content creators who worked from the comfort of their homes will finally shut off their ring lights and come out of the darkness to integrate into society.
The shutdown, while anticipated, still comes as a terrible shock, and everyone has gone into a frenzy. People took to X to voice their dismay and heartbreak over the decision. Some creative minds expressed themselves with funny memes and reactions.
