Duolingo has officially brought an end to its cryptic PR stunt, one that saw its mascot, the raging green owl, pronounced dead.
In a hilarious video uploaded on its official page on X, we see the owl explain that all he ever wanted to do was grab attention and "get people to do their lesson," and the only way he could do that was to stage his own death.
However, in looking for someone to blame, much to his dismay, he realized that "so many people would jump at the opportunity to be the cause of his death." As for the death video that "looked incredibly realistic," the owl said that most of it was for dramatic effect and to promote social commentary.
In the video, the owl claimed that he wanted to see how many people wanted him to come back to life, and the only way to do so was for people to finish their lessons. In doing so, he found out "who the real ones are."
