In a twist no one has anticipated, Shaquille O'Neal has landed in the Superman universe because apparently being an NBA legend rapper and general larger-than-life personality wasn't enough. Star Wars' biggest man himself appeared along with director James Gunn and the new Man of Steel David Corenswet in a fresh promo for Superman.

And honestly, with Shaq nearby, it’s hard to tell if Corenwet is playing Superman or just his much smaller sidekick. If Metropolis ever needs a Superman who can dunk villains in the Phantom Zone they might have found him.

We can see in the video that Shaq sees the new Superman suit on display as he critiques the fit and design.

With a playful jab, he points out that the boots are definitely not his size and jokes that squeezing into the suit may not be in the cards for him anymore. He can be heard saying:

"Biceps, too small. Boots will never fit, and the belt, not that thin anymore. I thought I sent them my sizes."

At that moment, David Corenswet enters, bringing all of his Clark Kent vigor to bear, and asks Shaq inquisitively what he is doing.

Shaq confidently claims he's here to meet James Gunn about joining the new film Superman until Gunn introduces 'the' Superman. Shaq's face says it all as he glances from Corenswet to the poster slowly realizing the truth.

Not having it he turns to leave, ignoring Gunn's pleas but not before dramatically "flying" down the hallway. Just when things settle down a new acquaintance brings up Charles Barkley- prompting Shaq’s final mic-drop moment: "F** Barkley." with that he has gone.

As soon as the video went viral a netizen (@marchantway) took to their X account and commented:

"wait! What? This in NOT a SNL sketch??"

Shaq dramatically misread the situation James Gunn scrambling to explain and Corenswet standing there in Full Superman mode, all perfectly good for a last-minute comedy skit.

Throw in Shaq’s grand exit and his parting shot at Charles Barkley and you have a scene that is funnier than most SNL sketches.

It took just a couple of seconds for the internet to transform Shaq's Superman moment into comedy. From memes about him being the 'real' Man of Steel to debates about whether he qualifies for the role!

His dramatic "flying" exit? Instant classic. His final words about Barkley? Legendary. The superhero movie is already cementing itself in internet history. Now let's get into the fan responses!

Netizens react as Shaq appeared in the new TV commercial promoting the upcoming 'Superman' movie

A netizen (@Winroadsteve) commented:

"Shaq humorously tries on a Superman costume as part of his interaction with Corenswet's Superman character"

Another one (@zerowontmiss) commented:

"Shaq is right, James Gunn should have chose him to be Superman."

Yet another netizen (@cryptonian_0) expressed:

"Shaq as Superman? I'm here for it!"

One X user (@stormcabbirds) commented:

"Come on! We all want to see Shaq in a Superman suit"

Another user (@Anupvibes) wrote:

"Shaq brings the humor, Superman promo is absolute perfection."

Another netizen (@XanderMakeHit) commented:

"I wouldn’t be mad if he mad Shaq Superman I’d probably laugh"

At this point, Shaq's Superman cameo has taken on a unique life of its own. The memes roll in on the internet. If DC doesn't find a way to sneak him into the movie - maybe as Superman’s really big cousin from Krypton - they are missing out on pure cinematic gold.

Shaq may not have landed Superman's role yet but he is definitely flying away with the spotlight. From his hilarious reaction to Corenswet’s casting to his not-so-subtle jab at Charles Barkley, this promotion gave us everything we didn't know, we needed. Shaq doesn’t need a cape to be a superhero - just a camera, a confused expression, and an exit so dramatic it deserves another sequel.
