Joe Russo, one half of the directing duo behind Avengers: Doomsday biggest blockbusters, just dropped a bombshell that has the internet collectively raising an eyebrow or both.

In what might be either the boldest cinematic move of the decade or an elaborate April Fools’ joke that arrived late, Russo has reportedly announced Avengers: Doomsday will be the first-ever TikTok blockbuster. Yes, a full-blown Marvel movie designed specifically for the TikTok generation. Short attention spans, here we go.

Avengers: Doomsday Joe Russo’s TikTok Vision Has Fans Spiraling

According to reports, Russo was quoted saying:

"We are designing a movie specifically for the TikTok audience. Embracing the low attention spans will save the industry."

And just like that, the film world was flipped upside down.

The quote came from a post that quickly gained traction across social media, and soon, screenshots and memes exploded faster than Thanos could snap. While Russo’s statement might’ve been made with a hint of satire (at least, we hope), the internet wasn't taking any chances.

The idea of a TikTok-tailored Avengers film was enough to stir a digital riot.

Reactions poured in, each one trying to out-snark the last.

A user summed up the collective disbelief with a simple:

"This is a joke right"

Another chimed in with a less hopeful take:

"I fear that you’re reporting real news"

Perhaps the darkest (but most honest) response came from someone who, in just seven words, managed to speak for cinephiles everywhere:

"They really set themselves the goal of destroying cinema."

Ouch.

But wait, it gets better.

One particularly cynical take imagined the entire runtime trimmed for optimal scrolling:

"It will be 27 mins long then"

Honestly? Probably too generous. Let’s not give them ideas.

The reactions quickly snowballed into a full-blown meme fest. People began to imagine what a TikTok-style Avengers movie would even look like. Would Iron Man be doing thirst traps? Would Hulk smash... the like button?

The jokes practically wrote themselves.

Someone sarcastically quipped:

"This is gonna save cinema"

You know you're in trouble when your movie’s pitch sounds like the opening line of a disaster documentary.

And while Marvel has been no stranger to milking trends (remember when they tried to make Hawkeye a Christmas thing?), this might be a whole new level.

Whether it’s satire, strategy, or someone’s intern getting too bold with the brand account, one thing’s for sure: Joe Russo’s comment achieved what few press releases can: it made everyone talk.

And laugh. And panic.

So, will Avengers: Doomsday truly be cinema’s TikTok messiah?

Or are we witnessing the birth of what critics will one day call “the day storytelling died”?

Only time (and maybe the algorithm) will tell. Until then, we’ll be bracing ourselves for a world where Thor delivers monologues in 15 seconds or less and where cinema history might just be rewritten… one swipe at a time.
