Darren “IShowSpeed”, during a recent Fortnite OG marathon, delivered an ill-fated backflip attempt that sent him crashing into his desk. On December 27, 2024, Speed teamed up with fellow streamer Kai Cenat and his girlfriend, Vanessa, for a high-energy gaming session that turned into literal chaos.

As expected, the internet erupted with memes faster than Speed hit the desk. One X user summed it up perfectly:

“This is the most cartoonish thing I’ve ever seen.”
A user mentioned: "This will be one of the most historical memes of all time. It will quite literally never get old."
Another user opined: "No one crashing out better than this."
A comment read: "That's either staged or very painful."
Another comment read: "How do you even ended up like this 😭"
A user noted: "The legs coming back before landing has me dying."

Speed’s backflip

The Fortnite OG marathon was in full swing, with Speed, Kai, and Vanessa locked in an epic quest to snag that victory royale. Adding a little spice to the stream, this marked the first time Vanessa appeared publicly with Speed, giving fans a peek at the softer side of the often hyperactive streamer.

But, in true Speed fashion, the wholesome vibes didn’t last long. When Kai encouraged him to express his views on Vanessa, Speed, for some unexplainable reason chose to be a little more expressive. That is why he tried to proceed with a backflip attempt.

However, the backflip failed massively. Instead of perfecting the landing, Speed landed squarely on the messy surface of the table and sent gaming equipment, chips, and more than likely a chunk of his ego, tumbling to the ground.

The reaction of Kai was "the moment". He stood still, putting his hands on his mouth because he could hardly believe what he saw.

Now, even the Olympic gymnast Fred Richard has made a few words about the now-infamous backflip. Fred had been teaching Speed gymnastics tricks for a hot minute, including the double backflip. So when he saw Speed’s desk dive, he was not impressed. Fred exclaimed in a reaction video:

“What the… Yo, what? Speed man, what did I teach you? What was all the flipping we did for?!”
