Invincible Season 3 starring Aaron Paul has wrapped up and fans had a blast watching the show as it reached new heights of absurdity. One of the major talking points of this season was the star ensemble, which was cast for voiceovers. From Steven Yeun and Sandra Oh, to J.K. Simmons and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the cast was so stacked that it's unbelievable. All that was missing was Morgan Freeman narrating a Viltrumite massacre!
Aaron Paul brought his signature raspy voice to Invincible Season 3 as Powerplex, a character so overcome with rage and emotions that it seemed like he was auditioning for Breaking Bad: The Animated Series. Powerplex had a tragic backstory where his sister and niece were killed in the massive brawl that took place between Invincible and Omni-Man and has been on a vengeful mission ever since.
Fans in splits as Aaron Paul shares his experience of playing Powerplex
The character was well received by the fans and the decision to rope in Aaron Paul sat well with them. The casting was almost perfect. Powerplex's descent into villainy is a sight to behold even as he screams into the void. Aaron Paul was reportedly asked about his experience about playing the ferocious villain, to which he replied:
“Just another role being traumatized, you know?”
He probably can't believe his luck as it seems like he has become the poster boy of all traumatized characters. Fans were similarly chuffed about the news and came up with hilarious responses, debating how Aaron Paul always finds himself in such situations:
"This answer is very Jesse pinkman yo" joked one fan (via X / @cuterileyyx)
"I knew I heard this exact whining before", said another. (via X / @JEFFERYBAMAVELI)
Inevitably, there were a lot of references to Jesse Pinkman as well, the character we all came to adore through Aaron Paul's portrayal of the character on the big screen. Similarly, Powrplex is also a complex character whose thunderbolts are specially reserved for smashing Mark Grayson into a pulp. Both characters share a love for science that is hilarious to watch:
Mark Grayson, a.k.a Invincible, has a really bad record of collateral damage, all of which simply can't be swept under the rug. Seriously, someone needs to get a hold of Invincible, he can't keep getting away with this! Watching Powerplex recite those lines on the show would have been a coming full-circle moment for all of us, and would've certainly broken up the internet.
Aaron has played Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad, Todd Chavez in Bojack Horseman, and Powerplex in Invincible Season 3. It seems like there's a pattern developing....
"He was the happiest character in Bojack Horseman...but he was in Bojack Horseman" pointed out one keen-eyed fan (via X / @mikeIrerardi1)
While some fans were laughing at the absurdity of the situation, others took to questioning Aaron and his agent's choices instead:
"Aaron Paul’s agent be like: ‘Got you another role, you’re gonna hate it.", quipped one user (via X / @The_Epic_Scenes)
"Aaron paul must be a masochist in private cos why does keep taking these roles", commented another fan (via X / @elizabethkaiixo)
It's gotten to a point where even Aaron himself seems resigned to the fact that he will forever be cast in these sorts of roles. But we're not complaining, he's so good at it!
We are still reeling from the after-effects of watching the spectacular season finale, even as the curtains fall on Invincible Season 3. It was the perfect blend of family drama, teenage romance, and intergalactic chaos, though we wished to have seen more of Omni-Man towards the latter part of the season.
Invincible Season 4 has already been announced to be released in 2026, and we couldn't be more excited for it! Meanwhile, Aaron Paul will be seen on the big screen very soon, as his upcoming projects include starring in the sci-fi horror film "Ash". He will also be seen in "The Night House" and "Bear Country".
