TikTok never runs out of fresh trends. For instance, one of the current masterpieces spreading on the 'For You' Pages is known as the "Money Talks" trend. This trend is oddly hypnotic: there are suggestive gestures, a remixed '90s track, and a divided community between uncontrollable laughter and secondhand embarrassment.

What's the "Money Talks" trend?

It all begins with a slowed down, remixed version of "Dirty Cash (Money Talks)" by The Adventures of Stevie V. Creators—primarily men—are lip-syncing the phrase "money talks" while performing highly, um, expressive tongue-flicking at the camera.

To top it all off, there is a sound effect playing in the background mimicking the noise of a money-counting machine, adding to the whole absurdity of it all.

From where did it come?

The trend exploded overnight in late January 2025, and before you even knew it was everywhere. If you thought you could scroll through TikTok without encountering at least three versions of it back-to-back, you are mistaken. Hundreds of thousands of users hopped on the bandwagon and racked up millions of views.

Of course, not everyone is stoked about its ubiquity. The comment section of these videos has become a digital battleground where some of the users enjoy the absurdity, while others are packing their bags for another platform, mentally.

According to Dexerto, comments like "Can this cringe trend die already? Like, ew," litter videos with complaints. Of course, this is new. Social media does not know what a peaceful agreement means.

The satire brigade

The internet's unofficial Ministry of Humor had no qualms about roasting the trend into oblivion. Leading the charge was beauty guru James Charles, who posted a video titled:

"How are people not getting the ick from this trend."

It blew up with 33 million views worth of validation from those who couldn't handle another round of tongue-flicking finance talk.

TikToker Haleyybaylee took matters into her own hands, dressed up in masculine attire and exaggerating the trend's signature moves, mercilessly mocking it.

"pov: those men on my fyp that make me wish I was attracted to women".

Some TikTokers decided to remix it in their own bizarre ways.

Some content creators put actual money into the mix.

Hopping on the trend, one user stated:

"Me bc my braces cost as much as grills".

Failing at tongue-flicking multiple times, a user stated:

"My tongue does NOT move like that."

This user went on to give us a tour of their dreamy life using a real money-counting machine, proving that money actually talks.

This user not only gave a hilarious appalled reaction herself, but her cat also joined the fray with the most suitable judgemental looks out there.

Meanwhile, with a Beast Games reference, a user mentioned:

"Everyone mad at player 566 but they're literally there to compete for money."
