On January 20, 2025, when Donald Trump took the oath as the 47th President of the United States, the internet, naturally, had a field day. However, it was not for policy or politics. It was about the vibe check between two very different people in the audience: Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk and Barron Trump, the President’s youngest son.
If you were wondering who was radiating enough energy to power a Tesla, it was Elon Musk. The man was all in: beaming smiles, throwing out thumbs-ups, and even a little cheer every time Trump dropped the "M" word—Mars.
On the flip side, Barron Trump was the embodiment of meh. His face said it all: blank stares, minimal movement, the kind of detachment that only comes from sitting through yet another family event when you’d rather be anywhere else.
Musk was the "when you get the job" energy, and Barron was all "when you realize it’s a 9-to-5."
An X user has stated: “Who decided to put @elonmusk and Barron Trump beside of each other. The difference in energy is hilarious 🤣”
Speaking of Barron Trump, a user on X called @Celineroseeee thinks:
“He’s the real life Batman, I’m sure of it.”
Another user (@wyababee on X) added: “That is the face of a man that just wants to go home lmao.”
A user (@maldita_meg on X) thinks: “I think Bro is clearly dreading the next four years of college.”
Meanwhile, a user (@evnlyonx on X) added: “He looks like he just realized all the lectures are at 8 AM😂”
Speaking of Elon's over-the-top reactions, a user (@Yotaro_Base on X) quipped:
"He is really excited to find aliens 👽😂😂"
A user (@saras76 on X) thinks: "Barron looks like an annoyed dad while Elon is goofing off 😂😂😂"
A comment by @boogyman1130 on X read: "Elon is funny...he gets so excited just hearing the name Mars."
As one user (@fallenxoangel_2 on X) put it: "Elon is acting the same way a person would act when they see their crush, and their friend tells them to “be cool.” 🤣 "
Meanwhile, here's an emoji-fied version of their reactions:
Barron Trump at Donald Trump’s inauguration
Barron Trump is basically living his best life as a regular 18-year-old. Except for the fact that his dad just happens to be the president and his mom is Melania Trump— a former supermodel and one of the most famous first ladies.
Donald Trump took a moment to drop this gem during the inaugural parade:
"I have a very tall son named Barron. Has anyone ever heard of him?"
Fast forward to the part of Barron’s life where he’s finally doing the thing every kid does after high school: heading off to college. Only, you know, his college of choice is New York University (NYU), one of the most prestigious schools on the planet.
Melania recently gave a glimpse into how she’s watching Barron become an independent, self-assured young adult. During a Fox & Friends interview, she shared her reflections on parenting:
"I feel that children, we have them feel they are 18, 19 years old. We teach them, we guide them. And then we give them the wings to fly. And I always respect Barron's yes and no and what he likes to do, where he would like to be."
But being Barron Trump probably comes with some perks (umm, yeah, he’s taller than everyone), but also its own set of challenges. After all, how many 18-year-olds have the world’s eyes on them, eagerly awaiting the next viral moment that could involve a height joke or awkward public encounter?
Definitely not your average college freshman.
Elon Musk at Donald Trump's inauguration
As Elon Musk showed up at Donald Trump’s inauguration, the energy levels can only be described as being through the roof. As he strutted into the Capital One Arena, Musk was met with a wave of applause.
Fists pumping, feet jumping, he bounced onto the stage, shouting:
"The future is so exciting!!"
“It is thanks to you that the future of civilization is assured,” Musk declared.
Inside the Capitol Rotunda, Musk’s presence was still as electrifying, albeit a bit more contained. Seated among the tech elite, including Google’s Sundar Pichai and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Musk had a prime spot right behind Melania Trump and her children.
Musk was spotted snagging the seat closest to Trump himself. He even took to X to describe Trump’s return as:
“The Return of the King.”
