The animated film The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie has reportedly grossed over $6 million globally. As per Box Office Mojo, domestic sales account for over $4 million, and internationally the film minted over $2 million.
Its production budget is reported to be $15 million, according to The Numbers. The film was released on March 14, 2025, in 2,827 theaters. It was expected to fetch $3 million during the opening weekend, however, the film exceeded expectations by amassing $3.2 million.
Now, The Day the Earth Blew Up has surprised fans, not for box office numbers, but simply for existing.
The most intriguing aspect of The Day the Earth Blew Up is its history. It was owned by Warner Bros. initially, but when they merged with Discovery a year ago, they took some cost-cutting measures, canceling a number of films—this one among them. That's when Ketchup Entertainment purchased it.
Now that users appear set to propel the movie into success, at least to hold Warner Bros. accountable for letting it slip away, the fans are annoyed about not getting much advertisement. Most complained they had no idea the The Day the Earth Blew Up was released.
Consequently, Warner Bros. and other major studios were once again getting roasted online for their lack of advertising.

A few users roasted fans who always preach that smaller studios are just as deserving of success as big-budget productions. They noted the irony—when it comes time to support these smaller films in theaters, people don't show up just because there's no major studio name on them.
A user @jesseplemonsfan went on to poke fun stating:
"Y’all so mad they cancelled that other looney movie but won’t even watch them 😂😂"
Another user @GibsHamari added:

And naturally, Warner Bros couldn't avoid the heat. Users trolled the studio, claiming the manner in which they handled this movie was nearly "criminal." Many indicated that while other studios are severely criticized for doing the same, Warner Bros manages to get away with it somehow.
