Tesla introduced a less expensive variant of the Cybertruck, the Cybertruck Long Range RWD. The price tag on it is $70,000. It's $10,000 lower in price compared to the Dual Motor AWD option, yet it's $9,000 pricier than the original RWD option, which was meant to cost $61,000.

As Electrek reports, this new Cybertruck model is now available for purchase in the US and Mexico.

Yet, it has less capability and poorer performance than the higher-priced versions.

The new Cybertruck accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour in approximately 6.6 seconds. It will travel as quickly as 112 miles per hour.

It rides up quite high off the ground — roughly 9.5 inches– so it has no trouble driving over rough roads.

It has a range of up to 350 miles on a single fully charged battery, which is 100 miles greater than the previous model.

Tesla intends to begin deliveries in June 2025.

The internet never fails to come up with jokes!

Folks are mocking Tesla for referring to this as a "lower-priced" Cybertruck, despite its still costing $ 70,000, which doesn't seem particularly inexpensive to most people.

There are some users who are joking with Tesla, saying the truck appears to have recently been cobbled together.

Others are joking that even if it's fast, it could fall apart faster.

Social media reacts as Tesla introduces Cybertruck Long Range RWD at $70,000

The internet went wild when Tesla announced their "lower-cost" Cybertruck, priced at $70,000. People just couldn't help but laugh, and the jokes started pouring in.

The responses were laced with sarcasm and humor, with some claiming the truck appeared to be held together by glue.

A user humorously stated:

"70k "lower-cost" for a glued car is insane."

Another user, @DarkSalxm, went on to claim:

"Doesn’t this cost them less than 2k to make 😭"

A user, @Observe_It68, poked fun at the price with a sarcastic comment:

“Lower cost”

Most people thought the only "low" aspect of this truck was their faith in marketing. Some even joked they'd have to decide between owning a Cybertruck or being able to eat.

A user, @ToastD0ggo, delivered this gut punch:

"I can’t afford to eat and they’re saying this is a low(er) price. Lmfao okay."

A user, @William45589421, jokingly mentioned:

"But they’ll make fun of me when I can afford in 10 years."

One user, @MmBacon, offered a brilliant production hack:

"Instead of glue use tape."

From skepticism to outright jokes, people were creative. One person attempted to "correct" Tesla's math, another gave lunch money towards the price, and someone else claimed they'd only drive it if it arrived in Fortnite.

And to put the icing on the cake, one user was so sarcastic, they needed to inform all of them they were being sarcastic — just in case!

Yet another user, @jacoby_boi25, poked fun, saying:

"70k and lower cost don’t belong together."

A user @Seansfork says:

"I can offer $10."

Another user @Slumpy_Azul declared:

"After careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that I can only afford the Fortnite trim."

A user @casual_shark quipped:

"Ooooo yay I’m so excited… not really in case yall missed the sarcasm."

In 2019, Tesla indicated the base vehicle would start at $39,990. But now, that same model rings up at $69,990 before discounts.
