The Sims 4 snuck in a forgotten feature when no one was paying attention. Yep—the burglar has returned, and they even have a name now: Robin Banks. Ten years in the making, this notorious NPC has come out of nowhere with its grand comeback as part of the game's 25th-anniversary celebration.

The update, which dropped on February 25, 2025, has got Sims players all riled up.

The Sims community has been calling for this for years. Some turned to mods just to restore the excitement of a surprise robbery.

Others have spent almost a decade discussing why a Sim can be kidnapped by aliens, yet a basic burglary is too much. But at last, the wait is over.

Robin Banks has entered the conversation with an old-fashioned Sims experience coupled with some mischievous additions.

And if you thought, even for a second, that everyone on social media was hyped—you’d be so wrong. Naturally, some people chose chaos, dropping hilarious takes because being straightforward is too basic.

One user took a jab at the delay, stating:

"Ten years later lmao"

Ten years later? Did they walk here?

Another user mentioned:

"The sims 4 really is a disappointment to the point we’re celebrating at a burglar feature that was in every game except 4… 😭😭"

This user is exhausted from carrying the weight of low expectations.

A user added:

"People are still playing this game?🤣"

What can we say? Maybe Sims 4 players are built differently.

One user commented:

"The sims 4 wants to be the sims 2 so bad"

Maybe they just know a wannabe when they see one.

And of course, everything under the sun is to be compared with Grand Theft Auto:

"Sims 4 burglars before GTA 6..."

We can feel this user looking directly at Rockstar with pure disappointment.

A user went on to say:

"10 years to add something sims 1, 2, n 3 gave from the get go this is EMBARRASSING..."

Innovation at its absolute slowest.

Burglar makes a return to Sims 4

Burglars have been an integral part of The Sims experience right from the first version of the game.

If you were a player who lived for chaos, the sight of Sims going wild as their pricey sofa was snatched, or the sort who ruthlessly planted alarm systems around every room in the house, burglars brought life to the game.

But when The Sims 4 came out in 2014, the burglars weren't there.

The lack of this timeless feature resulted in meme-filled years, gripes, and modded band-aid solutions. But with the anniversary update, crime is once again on the menu.

What's changed about Burglar 2.0?

Say hello to Robin Banks. Contrary to burglars of yore, Robin is a chaos agent. She's going after residential and business lots indiscriminately, so no one is exempt from her sticky fingers.

To fight back, players can mount burglar alarms. These upgraded security devices can be equipped to auto-dial the police or shock Robin with an electric jolt.

This update includes more than 50 varied reactions to burglary. Some Sims may engage Robin, others may totally collapse into existence despair, and—because it's The Sims—others may even attempt to befriend her.

Then, of course, there's Heist Havoc, the fresh new lot challenge that ramps up the frequency of burglaries. Players looking to welcome chaos may choose frequent burglaries so they don't experience any peaceful moments in their Sim home.

Expansion pack synergy? We're just wild about it

This update is not alone, as the game is toying with expansions that already exist. If you have a dog from the Cats and Dogs expansion, they will now scare burglars away.

Werewolves or vampires can utilize their special powers to frighten—or just plain scare—Robin Banks.

If you possess the Paranormal expansion, you can even get ghosts to haunt her out of your house.
